Whats happening with Evangelion Renewal?
I know this subject has been breached before, but I just wanted to know if ADV and the other related companies have managed to attain licensing to distribute the re-mastered Evangelion DVD's. I was looking at the current DVD's (the "Perfect Set") last night, and I didn't like what I saw. It was jerky (camera jitter), bad colour saturation and it even had what looked like CAPTURE STATIC at the top and bottom of the frames every now and again (Good example: when the power of Unit-01 runs out while Shinji is battling Zeruel[14th Angel], he turns to the timer readout, if you're quick you can catch a band of static across the bottom of the scene). Why the hell is THAT their?
Its just that I don't want to waste good money on the "Perfect Set" which is far from perfect, if the "Renewal" set is going to be released here. And I know alot of people agree with me, right?
So yeah, the members here who are on the front-line of anime releases, so to speak, could you let me/us know whats happening with that, if we have to settle for the mediocre Eva DVD's that are currently available.

Considering how popular Eva is down here, I'd be surprised if Madman didn't pick up on it. I'll try to remember to ask Tim about it when he comes over in July. As for the discolouration, are you watching it using composite or component. A lot of the time colour-mess is the result of composite video cables. Which reminds me, I still need to get that AV pack for my Xbox.

As I posted back when I started here, according to an ADV official I got friendly with at GenCon Europe, they have the license for the US and UK releases. Obviously there isn't much proof of this other than what I say, but that's what I've heard, and I'm inclined to believe it. As for other countries, I've no idea.

It can't be that, considering that it looks like this before and after I ripped it, meaning that the version on the computer, and what it looks like on DVD is IDENTICAL. Anyway, its already been established that one reason Gainax are remastering the series is because of poor colour saturation. Its not messed up colours due to the wrong cables, seeing as everything else looks perfect, including both Eva movies, which have much richer colour saturation anyway.Declan_Vee wrote:Considering how popular Eva is down here, I'd be surprised if Madman didn't pick up on it. Only 46 days? Yeeh-dawggy!!! Good Eva footage will be mine!! yeehaa!! no camera wobble, no capture static and GOOD COLOURS!!!Declan_Vee wrote:I hadn't even considered that you were doing everything digitally... yeah the eva source is pretty rubbishy. It's almost fun to watch it waiting for flecks of crap (highly technical term) to show up. Or was that another series?
The shit hits the fan in 46 days.
