NEWS: Sailor Moon and Sailor Moon R Liscensed by ADV

It's just been announced at Otakon, folks! ADV has liscensed the first two seasons of Sailor Moon and will be releasing them in an uncut format, original japanese language, with subtitles. Not only that, but each season will come in a kick-ass box set! *parties*

I'm gonna check amazon.com every f*cking day until it lets me pre-order that som'bitch! In fact, I'll go check it now!

Oh yeah, for those not in the know... A while back ADV bought the liscense to the current North American release of Sailor Moon and Sailor Moon R (Both of which suck balls) from DiC. They then began to release the dub on DVD.

Looks like they finally got their heads out of their asses and decided to bring over an uncut version of those two seasons.

Season 1 had 4 episodes completely cut out of it, major changes made to many episodes, and the last two episodes had to have so much stuff cut out that they were combined into one episode.

Season 2 was less cut up, but still pretty well butchered.

Season 1 has been available on fansubs in limited quantity for a while from Studio Chikashitsu who stopped subbing the series after volume one of season 2 due to people selling the subs on EBay. (THE WHORES!)

Season 2 is RARE in the fansub world. Volume 1 got subbed by Chikashitsu, but that volume is hard to find. Volumes 2-6 were subbed by various people, and most copies you'll find are horrible. Volume 7 had 2 episodes subbed by various people here and there, and then 2 episodes which got subbed by VKLL, who subbed the rest of season 2 back when SM got cancelled on TV halfway thru that season.

Recently the dub was picked back up by a studio called cloverway. They finished season 2 for Cartoon Network. Seasons 3 and 4 were picked up by Pioneer, who released DVDs with the cloverway dub as well as subbed versions in an uncut format. Cuts made to the TV version were made after the dub was produced, unlike the first 2 seasons where cuts were made before dub production (Which is total ass)

Season 5 is not yet liscensed. I wonder if Pioneer will nab it up. That would be cool. I am still very happy that ADV is doing this, though.

hopfully thell get them out soon...id like to see seqson 1 the way its sposed to be shown. It will be nice to see them the right way

Yes, it's really happening.

I'm very happy about it overall, however I can't help but be annoyed since I just today began digitizing my first season fansubs!

Oh well. I'm still gonna digitize them all.. I did 5 and 6, now I'm encoding 42.. next is episode 2.. then episodes 45 and 46... that's all the episodes that were cut of severely edited on the TV version

.. after that, I'll do the rest of them.. then I'll burn them to CD.. then I guess I'll be ready to go out and buy the DVD box sets.

ALSO - ADV is already working on it.. thisis not an advance notice.. this is them saying "Oh by the way, we're doing this... probably be done soon"

You know why it has taken so long to release these DVDs?Because the releasing company had to track down all the redone,non penis scenes,and put in the new penis scenes.That can take a while to do.
