lOL Here we go again. A mediocre anti american movie wherein this poor little girl is allowed to die by her lazy brother who refuses to work after her mom is killed in a firebombing attack bought on by the hammer of Justice.

Mr Oni

Mr Oni
For good or bad, let him first watch the movie and make his own opinion up about it, Oni.

I found the movie to be very well-written and involving, deeply emotional and moving.

Bring tissues.

Like all of Isao Takahata's movies, a masterpiece. It's quite damning of the Japanese government's abandonment of war orphans. It's based on Akiyuki Nosaka's novel, which is based on his experiences as well. As I understand it, his sister's death is recounted exactly in the novel, which I haven't read yet so I can't compare it to the movie.

So, yeah, I recommend it.

Just as a heads up, you HAVE to feel really sad and declare Grave Of The Fireflies to be one of the greatest works in the world after watching it, NO MATTER WHAT YOU THOUGHT OF IT, or else UncleMilo will "take a stand against your drone-like, hive-mind, brainwashed stupidity" and oh so OBVIOUS lack of falling into his line of thinking (which is a mortal sin!), and proceed to kick your ass (or get all emotional and crying, which is far more painful yet hilarious).

He'll also make insulting, elitist statements about how he is so much above the rest of us "intellectual trash", since he metaphorically holds the crystal of life in a Tiffany glass spoon or something.

Just so you know ^_^ .
