Is this anime?

I know a lot of shows in the '80s are from Japan, so I wanted to know, are these shows anime or american cartoons?

-My Little Pony
-My Little Pony Tales
-Care Bears
-Strawberry Shortcake
-Rainbow Brite

And while I'm on this topic, why did 'they' just decide to re-ignite these shows with new toys that look nothing like the old show or old toys?

If I remember correctly, My Little Pony, My Little Pony Tales, and Care Bears were done by Sunbrow which I know regularly contracted out with Japanese animation studios. However, they are still American creations.

If we called things "Anime" merely based on where they were animated, we would would be calling most recent animated works "Korean Anime."

I know nothing about Strawberry Shortcake or Rainbow Brite.
