Post by CaTaClYsM » Mon Mar 17, 2003 1:06 am

is this for real?

It's on eBay and Amazon too. There HK bootlegs... Just check the description here and you can see the tale tell signs.

Chinese subs
Region free DVDs
Only three discs.

They probally bootlegged them from America since they have the english voice actors.

Last time I saw the series Best Buy had it near 200 bucks...

There is no way Pioneer would sell Trigun that cheap..

I konw, and they say there is NO DIFFERENCE between the 3 DVD set and the real ones.

The difference is that it's on 3 discs. Which in turn probably means the footage is compressed and not as good quality as the original. And it's region free. It's only logical that if you put 26 episodes on only 3 discs, something's you've got to sacrifice something. Heck, I saw the Hellsing bootleg in a store before and it was 13 episodes on 3 discs, not 2.

I own that one, I haven't actually watched the dub because well I didn't want to but the quality's great, I don't notice the difference so what does it matter?

It matters if you're going to make AMVs of Trigun using it. There'll be quality differences, although I suppose with some clever clean up you could make it the same video quality. Asides from the video quality there's a couple other things you should consider, like the quality of the subtitles and audio. And then there's also the morality issue, do you want to support English Anime voice actors and the companies that release anime domestically, or do you want to support Bootleggers who're actually ripping you off more with their lower prices?

personally I hate english voice actors, they're so bad, mostly, so given those choices I'd choose the bootlegers, yet another morality issue solved and I live to fight another day.
