Why some people dislike Anime?

Yeah, I can relate. I was talking with this girl about the random things that we did during lunch. When I mentioned something about 'Anime Club', the girl said "what?". I repeated my sentence. She just stared at me with really, really wide eyes before muttering my name and shaking her head. Really, she acted like I said "Yeah, I went around slaughtering my fellow classmates and shooting at random cars that pass by."

(This may have been stated already, but I'm gonna put in my 2 cents in anyway)
reasons why many people don't like anime
1. They think anime is nothing but shows like Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and DBZ
2. They think all anime is for kids.
3. They belive that they are too mature to watch any kind of cartoons regardless of content.
4. They think anime is for geeks, nerds, and weirdos.
5. They have absolutely no idea that anime, like live action film, has an infinite number of genres.
6. They aren't the least bit interested, regardless of all arguments.
7. They could care less.
8. They could find better things to do with their time.
If I left anything out, or said anything that needn't be said, feel free to add on to the list or correct me.

HaHa, if you're trying to be sarcastic, you're not funny. Granted I didn't read most of the previous threads, but this forum asked a question and I gave my answer.x_rex30 wrote:Wow, I had no idea those thoughts crossed there minds! Yes I was funny! o.O Wasn't tryin' to make people laugh, but I sure as hell had a good laugh! There was just a lot of "No duhs" in your post, and most people mentioned all of them. So I thought your post was kinda funny considering that. That's all. No offence, I could understand since you didn't really look at the other posts.

I totally forgot about that one. Yes, I think that one is one of the bigger reasons (at least for where I live) that people dislike anime. Then again, if all they have ever seen are shows like 'Tom and Jerry', 'Dexter's Lab', and 'Powerpuff Girls' on Cartoon Network, then of course I can't really blame them. Also, there seems to be a lot of crap like 'Teen Titans' and 'Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi' (name?) on CN that just practically screams: "Look! I'm Anime, and I suck!"mageman917 wrote: 5. I agree, almost all "anime inspired" cartoons are nothing but pure crap, and many people may confuse them, or mix them in, with real anime.x_rex30 wrote:lol. LMAO
But there have been one or two "anime inspired" cartoons that were good.

Teen Titans is better written than One Peice.
There, I said it. Commence flaming. SEVERLY.

American and Anime shows can be amazing...and they can suck in equal measure, neither is superior to the other.
