8, i never played 9, it looked stupid.

to be honest I haven't finished 8 either. my ps2 decided to start ignoring ps1 games when i was trying to finish it about two years ago and i never had it fixed. someday i plan to go back and finish it because i want to see the end after getting 75% of the way through the game

and my previous post could possably be wrong, maby. :?

2 1/2 hours for a CGI movie is crazy. It took years to make this movie to begin with and that was only 1 hour 40 mins. I don't think the movie could have gotten any better with a longer run time anyway. More often than not, longer movies end up overstaying their welcome. Like Pearl Harbor. No one cared for the sappy love story that encompassed the first 2 hours of the movie, everyone bought a ticket to see ships get blown up. It just involves throwing in meaningless filler. And to explain everything that happend in FFVII, you would need close to five hours. A lot of confusing stuff does happen that does not get explained to it's fullst in the game, as far as my simple brain can comprehend.

But therein lies the problem. FFVII has a intricurate plot. Think of if like Mathematics. If you don't understand one part of a complex problem, you won't get the next step. You can's skip steps either and expect to come out with the correct answer. So in explaining the beginning of the game in the movie, you would have to follow that to the falling of the 7th plate, the Shinra Tower Raid, Rufus taking command, Escaping Midgar, so on and so forth. In essence, you would need a second movie retelling the orginal story of Final Fantasy VII BEFORE you can create the sequal which is Adevent Childeren.

But ShinRa was not the Ultimate enemy after they invaded the main HQ. When the Prez was killed, he was killed by Sephiroth. Cloud knew this. Shinra was just a side nusence and not a real threat once you pass disk 1. By that point, Sephiroth is your villain number 1.

Actually, for a long time i was happy that the final fantasy series never did sequils(spell check) even though the end of a game leaves u wanting more. that style of storytelling is why so many Fanboys call out for more even about ten years later. What they forgot is that a good story is supposed to leave you wanting it to continue, and it should be that way. FFX-2 broke my heart (i haven't played it) because the end of FFX was perfect for that story, but this is not my story.

when they came out with the spirits within i was so happy that they followed the same formula as the games, it was totally origional and oh-so-beautiful to look at. before i saw it i was worried that it might have nothing to do with the world of final fantasy, chocobos and magic aside, i was wrong. Yay!

That said, this movie was really good, but the simple expansion of a former storyline made it too predictable. Still, it's great to see the places and hear the music that made me fall in love with FF in the first place shown again in all the glory that is now possable.I love the CG work that Square Enix does. It's the best work, graphicly, that I have ever seen.
