(since the 1st time i tried posting this message, a-m-v.org f-ed up, and the 2nd time i tried posting it(after i had to rewrite it) my computer f-ed up, this was suppose to be after the 2 guys finished talkin' about ultimate fighting and boxing and talkin' bout being jackass, nothing personal, i'm just saying that's what you were talking about)(anyways...)
Wow, you guys really got off topic there, but about dbz-fans again, i agree that dbz-cult-fans are the lowest of the low, MOST dbz fans aren't even at an age where they're suppose to be seeing this stuff. No Edited versions should ever be made of anything. If you don't like something about something, avoid that something until you're mature enough to handle it, or until your parents aren't looking. I strongly suggest that someone who is new to anime, DO NOT START WITH DBZ!! it's cool to watch sometimes, but don't make it your guide to the world of anime for christ's sake. What few realize is that the world of anime is as diverse of that of live-action. every genre of anime people bring up, has a live-action equivalent, and yes, dbz-cult-fans are a lot like creed-fans. From my experience, the worst dbz fans are the internet ones. I hate when you go into a room and all of a sudden all of the dbz-cult-fans in unison go
<DBZFANSasAwhole>DBZ ROKSZ!!
ANYONE THAT SAYS THAT GOKU CAN KICK ANYONE'S ASS SHOULD BE TAKEN OUT BACK AND HAVE THEIR SOUL REMOVED OUT OF THEIR ASS!!....sorry, but gohan is the best anyway(hahahahahaha)
So my point is that the fans, not the series, are the main problem. The series itself is not that bad. I myself like the series, not because of it's horrible story line, or it's crap-ass animation(which actually DOES get better as the story progresses). I like DBZ because it is so long. Which such a long span of episodes, the series gives its' characters an opportunity to experience tons of things in their life-time. BTW, i consider Dragonball to be the main ANIME, Dragonball is the 1st SERIES, DBZ is the 2nd SERIES, and DBGT is the 3rd SERIES. They are not all one and the same. Another thing that annoys me, and i know that some dbz-cult-fan will give his/her 2-cents about this issue, is that DBZ is NOT about goku. Dragonball was about goku, Dragonball was where they developed goku's character and personality, DBZ only emphasized it, he never grew(mentally) in DBZ or DBGT. Gohan is what DBZ is about. The DBZ series starts off with Gohan's birth and ends when he is in his adult years. Goku only changes physically (ie super saiyan) but gohan is the one who had to develop into his own character, along side with Vegeta. The biggest reason that i like dbz, is because it gives me a lot to work with as an amv creator. Sadly though, this is also one of the biggest draw-backs. At one point in my life, i owned enough DBZ-Linkin Park(usually the history of trunks) amvs to cover all the songs in the Hybrid Theory album, some songs i had several vids for. But if you have the patience, you can sift through all the crap made by amateurs that throw random clips together and do ene-meenie-minie-mo to pick what linkin park song they're gonna use, and find the good dbz-amv's that actually have a point to their existence.
For examples of such rarities, check out
http://www.neogohan.net, or try a p2p network and search for vids from Supa Vegitto (one of the few SANE dbz fans)
I hope this didn't turn out to bash-dbz, i really think it's a series worth watching(ALL OF IT, NOT JUST THE CRAPPY FIRST EPISODES), given some tolerance, it can be a series that we can all enjoy. Afterall, who doesn't dream of being able to fly and using the energy you use in real-life as a weapon, making your own body into a weapon, it's science fiction.
I hope this made any sense, if not, eh..peace out
