That last post had me cracking up for awhile, no joke. I use to be all for Disney back in elementary school, but I realize they take works like Hercules and just pervert it to something taht makes $$$, so I too would boo Disney but cheer for STudio Ghibli. (anyone want me to elaborate on how disney just takes original works and warp em, tell me)
As for Spirited being a horrible work? Nah. It's overrated, definitely. Maybe I'm just not of the appropriate age but there are good aspects abt it that Disney can never pull off. I
t's symbolic for one thing. Just off the top of my head, I can argue that the black shadow thingy(the monster the first post was ranting abt??) represents greed. seemingly, that specter can just pull gold out of nowhere and pay the bath house but its just muck and goo, as you later find out. then there's the part abt it always eating....greed has no limit, its never happy, it consumes ppl, and it hates giving up what it has even if it serves no purpose of having it. material gain is temporal and overrated, usually leaving the person feeling empty and pointless.
LET'S SEE DISNEY PULL THAT KIND OF ALLEGORY OF!
Since most ppl told everyone their fav Miyazaki work, I'll say that Laputa is DEFINITELY the best of the best! Now, I think even non-Christian/non ENglish freaks can recognize a few symbols in that one, you just have to pay attention to details....seriously consider checking that movie out if you haven't done so already!
