Actually, another thing that would be awesome to do with an alternate universe Eva series, would be the introduction of post Unit-13 Eva upgrades for Unit-02, and possibly a Unit-14 for Rei's use. Imagine if you will, an Evangelion gunship, loaded with hundreds of Hellfire missiles, GE 30mm Vulcan cannons, and possibly an N2 mine launcher (similar to the tactical nuke launcher on GP-02 in "Gundam 0083").

Really? I never noticed in EoE Unit 02 had a shoulder-mounted spike launcher. On a similar subject, are there any Eva shrines out there devoted to just the tech talk on the Evas? Being one of these psychotic gun-nut trekkies, I WANT SPECS AND BLUEPRINTS!

Is there different releases of EOE? The one I'm holding now is a 2002 release, by Manga ent., and yes, there is a brutal, vicious spike launcher in 02's shoulder.

now here's the scary thing....EoE was origionally release back in what? 1998? Manga too they're sweet ass time makin a rather shitty dvd release. The origional trailer and what not was supposed to be in there but they cut that all out.

Well, i like to dable in mechanics, got the legs of a walker to work using a bcc and a lego program (one of the early ones), that was cool, now if only i could make it much bigger, and build an upper torso...........and get guns....... and a power source......... and the money to make it...........

The launcher was in the shoulder, not shoulder mounted, but maybe the evas should have had shoulder mounted weapons, allows them to shoot more............

Post eva 13??? Now theres an idea.............. want to write a fanfic??? It be good, can use the manga version off the story too lead up to it, and have other pilots, wearing red shirts, that get trained up, put in an eva, and die on the 1st mission.............yeah, more trauma for Shinji....YAY!

Well, if I wrote a fanfic, the post-Unit-13 Evas would all be hypersonic gunships/air-to-air interceptors, with possible orbital intercept capabilities. Unit-00 to Unit-03 were all ground-attack Evangelions, which serve reasonably well when dealing with Angels similar to Adam. However, with Angels like Ariel, which orbit the Earth out of range of the standardized pulsitron rifles, these Evas are inferior. Units 05-13 were capable of ground combat, with retractible "bird-like" wings for quiker transport in and out of the battlefield. Of course, with these models, air-to-air combat was not even considered. Obviously, their morphing melee weaponry is designed for CQB on the ground, and not the dogfighting and maneuvering expected in the air.

For combating flying Angels, a hypersonic Evangelion with incredible agility, an S2 engine, and an arsenal of conventional and N2 guided missiles would be required. Pulsitron rifles in the form seen in "Evangelion" are too bulky, sensitive, and require too much power to be feasible in air-to-air combat under high G-forces.

What I'd prefer to see, though, is the AT-Field being used as an offensive telekinetic weapon, or as an inductive power source for some high-output pulsitron rifles. Using the AT-Field as an inductive power source would solve the issues of using pulsitron rifles in mobile warfare, making them more compact, lighter, and more simplified, considering the pilot's manipulation of the AT-Field would function both for determining power output, cyclic rate of fire, and particle guidance. The Angels have no creativity in their use of the AT Field, except for the whole "Dirac Sea" bit. With it's strength and invulnerability to conventional weaponry, it could be easily adapted to serve both defense and offense.

Evangelion is all about psychology, and not about technology or how many different flying eva's and shit you can design. The psychology chapter has been closed in the EoE movie as well, so I don't see much of a point in a continuation series.

An alternate dimension series would just be plain silly. The reason eva is as good as it is is because of the story. If you make an alternate version you'd change the story and thus it would most likely suck.

A prequel OAV//movie would be great. There's lots of things left untold, like the whole second impact part. But also things like Shinji's and Asuka's childhood (the manga sketches a very good picture of Shinji's pre-evangelion life, how his grandparents misstreated him and all). Perhaps more stuff about Rei and Yui too, and more about the history of nerv/gehirn.

I vote prequel.

Yes there were alternate endings scripted. Two of them I think. Unfortunately I had the page that had thes scripts but I can't seem to find it..i think it's on www.evaotaku.com.
