Who is the worst character in all of anime? ***SPOILERS***

I liked Hitomi...she was like Miaka in some ways (thus I understand the hatred), but she MATURED at the end which I liked.

Actually, I liked Miaka. At least she was funny. My sister has an interesting theory that anyone who didn't like Miaka probably saw the English dub. I saw about 10 seconds of the English dub and I'd have to agree with anyone who hated her. So I just thought I'd make sure, are we taking English Miyaka or original?

I should state for the record that I didn't hate Hitomi in the movie, just "TV" Hitomi.

Nope saw it subtitled. I hate her for what she does, not how she sounds. Although her saying "Tamahome" over 19 times an episode (in their little Tamahome/Miaka exchanges) did get annoying.

Movie Hitomi is a lot more annoying...being suicidal and all. TV Hitomi is at least a *little* bit less morbid

I'd have to side with dwchang in defending Hitomi... she does definitely mature over the course of the series, and isn't really that whiny and annoying- for almost as many times as Van saves her, she saves him.

Yup, that is another thing I liked...how Escaflowne didn't always have it be the stereotypical male saves female. Hitomi was a fairly strong female character which is very rare in anime or any male-driven hobby. Given, I do concede she does a few bad things too, but A) she later realizes this and tries to correct it and B)again, she mature.

I do have to admit that the thing I disliked most about Fushigi Yuugi was the constant "Miakaaaaa!" "Tamahome!!!" all the time. If I wanted something like that, I'd dig out my CD with "Barrado Ranma to Akane" on it and listen to the end of it. She does get a lot of people hurt/killed/in trouble- but at least she's not actively trying to get them killed or in trouble. She also doesn't really realize her selfishness a lot of the time.

Well she may not actively do it, but she still does it. IIRC there's a scene where they are invading Nakago's base to rescue someone and she then gets hungry....leaves everyone to go find food by herself, gets caught...oh and it gets better...then Tamahome fights Tasuki and she tells him not to fight back...oh that's not even counting her GIVING Yui the Shinzo thingy (thus causing A LOT more pain), wishing for her own happiness instead of fixing things, going into the water to drown herself and so on...ARGH I HATE HER!!!! Now I'm Mad

That's probably why I am so very un-fond of Minmei. She knows she's being a selfish bitch, but just doesn't care. I believe I'm remembering her line correctly: "Everyone else should just disappear!" Besides... I've hates Minmei for a while before seeing Fushigi Yuugi- Miaka just doesn't compare, at least in my mind. One of my most amusing memories from back in the club at school was one of the first times we shows "Do You Remember Love?". When Hikaru slapped Minmei, the whole audience cheered, and someone yelled, "SLAP HER AGAIN!!!!!"

Nah I hear you on Minmei. IIRC Hikaru states how she needs to do this to save everyone and she says it doesn't matter and she'd rather be with him for a little while instead of saving everyone. Again...I did have one idea to use with Minmei in my Iron Chef video...

Asuka............ liked her fine enough, i just cant stand the whiny bitchy attitude...... funny i think of her as the worst character of all time........ just cant live with whiny characters..... ok when they go psycho and kill a load of things...... but not when locked in whiny mode (this applies to asuka also) now, im gona wait behind my at field, (powered by beer), to avoid being stabbed, burned or shot......

Naw, what you did with it worked out quite well. It would have taken far too much time to Photoshop/AE a microphone in somebody else's (like Gally's) hands to have the singing lipsynced to. One of these days when/if DYRL is released here I'll make my own video with Minmei getting abused Top of the list for it so far is to use the "Chicken Dance" song and have her getting slapped whenever there is clapping

Haha, yeah that lip-sync was attrocious, but whatever...most people dont' seem to notice, although I have descriptions of why I think it sucks balls in my video description. I will be the first to admit though that I *knew* the audience (being mostly just fans,) would love it and freak out. I honestly think the song and stupid things like that won it for me...I'm such a 'tard...playing the audience like a fiddle ....oh and of course the lens flare of doom I promised .

As for your song...that would be SO bad ass. You know the AMV "Bitches" where that Team Rocket girl slaps the guy to the beat...I hope it's like that .

Heh. Well, more so than usual AMV making, Iron Chef seems to be for the entertainment of the audience, and that video did that quite well. Plus, I'm sure the editors in the audience loved the lens flare. 8)

I'll definitely have to try and do that video, but I'll have to find a copy of DYRL first. And some time to do it in.

Back on topic- let's see, other characters I just generally can't stand. Hmmm. Can't think of any more off the top of my head. Ironically, I actually like some of the charaters that lots of people dislike- like KOR's Hikaru.

Yeah...like I said..I sold out to the audience...but the point was to entertain and win...not create some artistic masterpiece. My slightly intoxicated antics helped too.

BTW when they started the contest, I know they had one projector on one of us the entire time...did they have it on me at the beginning? and more Importantly, did you and Trythil see me go to "Render->Lens Flare" and start keyframing it? That would've been hilarious given the promise I made and the conversation I had with both of you prior .
