Unfortunately, the manga MUST be taken into account with the anime, since essentially the only reason that people know that the story is on hiatus is that it is divergent from the books. possibly - i guess what i am getting at is if you couldn't get into the anime then I doubt the manga would interest you.

well im 13 and i like Naruto, i dont really know why....i guess its because it has a lot of action! but you cant just like it after watching a few minutes of it, you have to watch it a couple of times and it gets interesting! I got into it last summer

but i dont like the english dub, the voice actors annoy me......they all sound like surfer dudes. but ive seen epeisodes 1-136 in japanese so i know a lot about the show

Naruto is mediocre at best. It's a clone of DBZ in that it long overstays it's welcome. I was bored after episode 13 of the Japanese version and the english makes me want to die. Believe It!

I like the manga better than the anime IMO. Also I think what made it so good was the exam.

well still, most people who like Naruto still lke tons of other anime and manga. I love Eureka SeveN, Fullmetal Alchemist, and other shows too. I actualy like A LOT of anime. Naruto just happens to be the first anime i actually started to watch. Naruto was the one who got me into anime, so i give it its props.
