And that is what is so surprising about the "End of Evangelion". Shinji who has run away from pain all of his life embraces it because though people cause pain... he wants to live in a world of people. Rei could pick one person to shape the course of Third Impact.... Seele thought it would be them... Gendo conspired to take it for himself (so he could be with Yui)... but in the end Rei gave the power to shape things to Shinji... And Shinji made the right choice and gave everyone the power of choice.

Hmmm, I didn't think Seele even thought that there would a choice once 3rd Impact occurred. I thought the "choice" was something that Gendo engineered since Seele commented on how Gendo should not be allowed to create a God.

Ok... and this is a lot of conjecture here. Adam and Lillith are progenertor aliens. They were dropped off on Earth by some other kind of alien to populate the planet. Only trouble is that we should have only gotten one. We ended up with two and they were diametrically opposed to one another.

So humanity flourishes on the planet and upon discovering the these aliens we learn that we can reset the creative process and everyone can go back to the primordial goo. The trouble is, the progenertor aliens control what happens next. They can determine if everyone stays as a single organism or if we break apart into something new or if we return to as we were. So, Seele learns to separate the soul of Adam and Lilith from their bodies... without souls, the progenertors can be controled by a surrogate. Seele wanted it to be themselves so they could control the course of instrumentality.... What they did not count on was one of the souls of the progenertors getting back into it's angel body... This was Rei (the removed soul of Lillith put into the cloned human body of Yui Ikari)... Adam and Lillith were both docile until they merged together with one of the souls...

Gendo counted on Rei giving him the power to control instrumentality. Seele sent the soul of Adam, a being called Kawaru to force Gendo's hand and start instrumentality themselves, but that failed. But the tables were turned on Gendo as Rei loved Shinji more than anyone and turned over the fate of human kind to him.

I FUCKIN' LOVE YOU!! *hugs sooo tightly* It was bothering me!! I didn't quite grasp that at all, I love you I love you I love you I love you! I was all "What?! Wait, Kaoru is an angel, does that make Rei an angel?!" And I got soooo lost... @_@ So pretty much "Rei's" soul was the same, even if she transferred bodies?

Interesting, I'll buy the part of diametrically opposed aliens. Especially since Kaoru understands that only one of the two life forms can exist.

I also agree with that.

Trifecta! I also agree with that, once again because Kaoru decided that the Lilim should be the race to exist.

Some comments though: Seele felt that human kind was suffering and imperfect and that was their drive for Instrumentality. They wanted to "reset" the process and become one. In Seele's vision, there was no option for individuality whereas Shinji gave people the option to return should they wish it. Like you stated before, Shinki made the right choice by giving people a choice.

On a related note, it was definitely interesting to see Asuka and Shinji return to the beach. I definitely like the idea of having them form a stronger and more stable relationship after discovering their deepest thoughts during Instrumentality. However that is another debate going on another forum.

heh i rember misato was telling him in instrumentality that the time she wanted to sleep with shinji was a lie.. Talk about cut down.. sheeesh i would not wanna be around her forever either listenin to that.. You suck.. you caused all this.... Why did you let this happen....Sheesh. All those people complaining about a choice to give them choices. Its just like it would be if everyone was allowed to go to heaven. (somethin gendo wont cause he was not absorbes in to instrumentality.)

Gendo went into instrumentality too. Everyone did and he was not different. The image of him getting his head bit off was in his head. Remember that Unit 1 was way up in the sky getting cruicified by the completed Eva series. Everyone got to see the one they loved the most before they popped into goo. It was quite a sweet way to go. If you had no one you loved, you sat huddled and screaming as Rei came after you, but you still went with everyone else

Everyone on the planet has a AT field that separates them as a separate individual. Third Impact eliminated all the AT fields everywhere bringing everyone's souls together into one single organism. Gendo went with everyone else too. This was how he saw himself being with Yui again. He just never got to control its direction.

That's true although I wondered about Misato. Rei picked her up instead of Kaji. Maybe he didn't because he was already dead?

However, Yui came and picked up Fuyutski...

Well, I think it was kinda obvius that Fuyutsuki loved Yui... And perhaps Misato only had a sexual relationship with Kaji. I don't think she really loved him, just kind of used him to fill that 'void' in one's life when they're lonely.

Hm.... So when people want to be individual again, they come back. I wonder how long before Shinji and Asuka are no longer alone with other people who wanted to be themselves....

I could also be that they saw the one they loved when they lost their AT field awake and concious. Misato was probably passed out on the floor at that moment. It was Rei that approached everyone. She morphed into the one they loved at the last moments. I wouldn't read too much into it to say that she was not in love with Kaji.
