they sent a memo to Japan asking if the name was Alucard or Arucard.
The reply was (and I'm not joking... I wish I was)... the name is Arucard because it is Dracura spelled backwards. The execs insisted that the name be spelled Arucard.
The guy doing the script pointed out that the woman's FIRST name was Elizabeth... that Elizabeth IS NOT a last name in England...
but they forced the name to be Ceres Elizabeth.
The guy doing the script felt that the blonde guy should have a Scottish accent.
They asked why
He said... well, he was either Germanic or Scottish, but the sword he has is a Claymore... and so that indicated he was a Highlander.
The execs said "What's a Highlander?"
The guy working on the script used the word "Templar" in his translation.
They told him not to make up words.
He told them it is not a made up word... that Templars are an ancient order of knights... and tried to explain how we westerners also have an old culture, even if the Japanese don't want to believe it.
He showed them writeups about the Order of Templars.
They forced him to use "Religious Knights" in the script.
Things like this happen all the time.
Execs... be they Ameican or Japanese, are in positions where they call the shots... and they don't know anything... and they don't like to have their immense stupidity pointed out to them... and they can fire you and pay someone who WILL do what they say.

In the Gundam Computer game that is coming out (or might already be out) has one of the missions set in New Yark.
New Yark, I tell you.
However, since the guy calling the shots is the creator of Gundam... no one dares say 'no' to him, despite the blatantly obvious error! We see that here in the US - I mean, Lucas is surrounded by yes men nowadays as well.
