*Possible spoilers ahead*

I for one loved the movie. The character designs took a little getting used to, but they work well. The movie on the whole was animated beautifully.

As for the story, AD did point out one fault I agree with, the 'socio/political' aspect to be specific. Certain parts within the conflicts worked (the beginning of the revolution really stands out: when the leader of the revolution 'kills' Pero. Powerful scene), but the totality of it isn't given enough time to develop for my taste. I think that the directors didn't want to 'bog down' viewers with a whole lot of political talk and instead stuck to Tima and Kenichi's parts in the ordeal, in order to keep the story moving.

Where Tima's humanity is concerned, I think that how they showed her regaining her humanity at the end before she falls was more than sufficient. Some people might miss it, but I think it's better than being beat over the head with "Look, she's ok now! Ooops, she fell. But it's o.k., you can feel bad for her now because she's 'human'". Regardless of whether or not people notice that she regains her humanity they are going to feel bad for her demise, if only because of her innocence and the fact that she was thrown into a bad situation.

So despite any problems I had with it I thought the movie was handled well, and that it is a great work of art, visually and in terms of story.

I did find the emotional aspect of this to be rather... blech but I think it's OK, one of the only ones that truly gives you that retro-Sakura Taisen feal.

but, unlike you, I was more confused in the begining than end where Tima started acting like she SHOULD have, like a machine... Yes things like OLS (and I've not seen Automatik Maid May or whatever but I'd think that too...) make me pissed to no ends. Chobits is nothing but a story of a total loser...

I did find it funny, in the end, where FiFi gives wasisname wasername's 'heart'. hehehehe that's bitter drama for ya

Why don't you invest in a spellchecker, or at least stop posting one-handed?

I would imagine there will be more than enough AMVs for Spirited Away once it comes out on domestic DVD. Be patient.

The ending seemed to lack closure, for myself. But the movie as an entirety was pretty good. The best was the fire fighters! :D
DUDE U WAISTED UR MONEY ON A WORTHLESS AND CARPPY MOVIE ( WELL NOT THAT CRAPPY) MAN U PPL HERE ARE RICH
It wasn't that bad... I did rent it before I bought it. So, I knew what was getting at least. :D
And i wouldn't say I'm that rich. In total, I now have 4 anime DVDs and that's it. EoE, D&R, Princess Mononoke, and Metropolis. I still want the Evangelion Perfect Collection (DVD) thing! I don't even have a job. :( You just gotta wait until you find the right price.

Well, in all honesty the very ending I didn't mind at all - I thought it was ok. What I objected to most was the fact there was no conflict in the transition between psycho machine an amiable doll - it was just the flick of a switch. It would have been much better if it was some sort of computational conflict that could have been externailised.

The very final part was ok but by that point you'd stopped caring about tima.

yea but it was a pretty big flick of a switch... she 'realized' her mortality and decided to take her place in God's plan ;-p see? blurred gender laws (male female and non-organic!! simple) just makes my stomach go around in circle circle circle circle etc. bleh! That's why I like Angel Sanc. the angels have no genre, theyre both neither and either, that is ever so cool to a theology-psycho like me ;-p.

I understand what you mean, I suppose that I just wasn't bothered as much by it. *Shrugs* Hooray for people being different! :D
