Flaws I have noticed with my GW bootlegs - 1) They're rather dark, and sometimes it's a little hard to see what's going on, though I can just brighten the screen and 2) There's an error in the preview for episode 32 after episode 31. Aside from that, no complaints. But when I noticed that stuff I thought "Gee...are the copyright gods mad at me?"

In any case, this debate is kinda pointless...I mean, people who buy bootlegs are gonna keep buying bootlegs no matter what anyone says. I hope this doesn't turn into a flame war.

But really, there's nothing to discuss here in the first place.

WE KNOW WHO YOU ARE AND WHAT YOU'RE DOING AND YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES.

In a way, I agree with Tallon. It is the distributors, not the studios, that get the royalties from official overpriced DVDs purchased from your local entertainment store. Why i say overpriced? Because it costs less than a US dollar to manufacture an official DVD, $0.39 for a video game CD.

While Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away were being exhibited in the US theatres, Disney, the distributor, was making most of the money, not Studio Ghibli. Sure the studio made some money when they sold distributing rights to Disney, but it was Disney who got the royalties for every ticket sold in America and for every DVD sold in America. The studios are already paid when they were given the films to work on, when they were working on the films, and when they finished with the films. But NOT when they sell the films to the public. They either sell to a distributor or their production company distributes it themselves. Do you think its Bandai who made Cowboy Bebop? No, its Sunrise Studios. Like the studios, the actors and directors don't recieve royalty payments, that's why they always do special interviews.

The Video Game industry is just like the Anime industry. As is the music industry. I have no problems with people downloading music, because the musicians were already paid to make the music and will not receive any further benefits. In fact, most of their income is supplied from their tours and interviews, not how many CDs they sold. The only people who gets paid for every CD sold or the people who owns the Labels. Metallica, Dr. Dre, Eminem, and some others all own their own labels, so that's why they hate mp3s being shared on the internet.

Summing it all up, its not the actual creators of the different medias that all of you so enjoy that gets paid for every DVD or CD sold, but actually the production companies and distributors are the ones who make the extra $$ for every disc/ticket sold.
so stealing from one person is wrong but stealing from another is right ? fact is, that in the end, bootleging, no mater what way you look at it, its theft. its imoral. its wrong. its unethical. and from a bootlegers view if the morality behind it, it would be moraly corect for me to break into your house and steal all your bootlegs. and if you complain then your being a hypocrite, because you we're the one that stole them in the first place

My 7-year-old brother got a pack of bootlegged Yu-Gi-Oh! cards for Christmas this year, because our relatives don't know a thing about anime.

The only thing is that those are noticeably worse than the real thing, because you can see they have a ridiculous logo that's not the official one on the back, and horrible translations on the front.

So, what happens if I were to buy the official release...
Burn dvd copies of them... Make them region-free... etc...

And sell them at a very low price? I would make a ton of money!! :D

boot·leg - To produce, distribute, or sell without permission or illegally

:?

That is totally different from Piracy with the Music/Movie/Video Game industry.

pi·ra·cy - The unauthorized use or reproduction of copyrighted or patented material

But then again... Piracy and Bootleg are both seen in the same light!

So.. It doesn't matter if it's bootleg or not so you buy it cheap... You buy it cheap because you don't want to pay that much money for the "Official" licensed release or japanese import.... These are the same people who don't want to do anything to get something! They would rather get something that's cheap and quick. So, in the event that said anime "bootlegs" are removed... (bootleg operations shut down) Where will you go to get that cheap anime?

So...

What is the price you would pay for what you want? :?

Who said any hobby was cheap?

hob·by - An activity or interest pursued outside one's regular occupation and engaged in primarily for pleasure.

I made a long post but i decided to re do it and just reply to this post.... About people who buy bootlegs being cheap and not wanting to do anything for something, thats called a stereotype, and one thats wrong at that. I work for what i get. If youve looked at my own dvd aficiando account its almost the same size as yours, and like ive repeated over and over, its all the official stuff. I buy bootlegs, not because of the price, but because i get the entire show. When a new show comes out, you usually have to wait months for just the next dvd to come out. I'd rather just get the whole show on dvd before its even licensed =/ And shows that ARE released that i own bootlegs of are so that i may watch the show before spending hundreds of bucks on it. Living in LA you'd think i'd have a place to rent anime, well ive yet to find anywhere in LA, LB, or even Westminster (which is suprising) that rents more then a few VHS tapes of Dragonball Z.... =/ Downloading already licensed stuff is pretty hard too, its never on KL++ and BT and DC suck. So i just buy the bootleg, watch it, then buy the officials if its good. If the show sucks, then they didnt deserve the $40 bucks i gave to Hong Kong :?

Where would i go for cheap anime? i just told you, i buy the officials 90% of the time, so i'd just buy shows i KNOW are good :?

Noone said a hobby was cheap, which is why, well you've heard me say it several times already. I buy bootlegs AND officials, for the same shows

So basically, all you said was really just your assuming that people who bootlegs are like that and just now proved not to be factual to all of us.
