Heh...most people I know actually rejoiced after that scene.

Am I the only person relatively unaffected by Grave of the Fireflies? Okay, well, not UNAFFECTED. I was depressed for about 2 days. But I didnt' really cry. The only anime that's ever made me cry was...well... :oops: :oops: :oops: I cried while watching that YYH episode where Yusuke "dies" and his mother is throwing that fit at his Wake. But that's for personal reasons. Anyway, I really hate crying during movies. Not that I don't cry...it's just that I have a reputation as being "the cold one" so whenever I see something in a movie that makes me sad I leave the room, heh.

For about 4 or 5 months, every time I heard a song with a certain tone and message, I kept thinking of Dale Earnhardt (yes, I'm a NASCAR fan, deal with it) every time a song played. Nightwish - Dead Boy's Poem, Backstreet Boys - Shape of My Heart (moms radio in the car prior to the portable CD player currently in my posession) and a few other songs. When they did a tribute for him at one of the races where the team owner drove in the car, I couldn't watch it cause I still can't believe he is gone. On that one VH1 show where they go through a persons life, that made me cry. Just typing this is bringing a tear to my eye and making me get all choked up... And this happened 3 years ago! I cried myself to sleep and through the next day...

Ever since that and the day I saw Evangelion, I've gone into a high state of depression, still haven't recovered it... There's times where I feel like I can't do anything, so I just sit there and think about nothing. I know this is leading up to the reason that OT was deleted, so I'll simply stop here and just hit the submit button...

Crying is a factor of life, everyone does it no matter if they admit to it or not. Like sex, everyone does it, but they don't admit to it half the time...

/me really needs to hit the send button...

Everyone seems to think I'm sort of evil heartless hellbeast, but actually I'll cry at anything in movies. :roll:

The worst was Trigun, at a certain spoilery part, and I even knew what was coming. Didn't matter. Still really sad. Bawled like a child for several minutes after the ep was over. I'm easily moved. And the climactic scene of RGU, obviously, although I'd seen it before. It's pretty pathetic, but eh, I only do it if I'm watching things by myself. It's cathartic. :P

I haven't seen GotF because it makes everyone cry, so I'm almost dreading what it'll do to me. -_-;

I didn't seem to respond to Grave of the Fireflies.

However, with most other anime I reflect on an emotional level, in many ways. With some exceptions (colleagues, parents, friends) it's more than I experience in actual life.

With anime (surprise surprise) you identify with a character and understand how they repond and act in various situations - a signature of their personality so to say. There are things that (example) Sagara or FMP would or wouldn't say, would or wouldn't do.
That's when you can really understand them.

As for "Grave of the Fireflies", the standard build has the ending first (could be a reason). Also, I thought those kids were silly for not staying with their other parents. And I never could comprehend the social and physical damage of having your entire town and many friends disappear i smoke, etc.

Yeah, I kept hearing about how sad it was prior to watching it.. To each his own I guess. :)

I dont kno wat people are so worried about if they cry or not. Whether a guy or gurl crys, it shouldnt really matter. I feel that crying can most of the time releave stress, anxiety, etc. When things get emotional in an anime series, i think that it is ok to cry whether you are a guy or gurl.

depends on what i'm watching. Most of the time's i don't cry when something sad happens ... when i'm watching something or in real life ... (which is probably why it took me two months to cry when my neigbor died)

but when it comes to laughing ... i over do it and cry all the time. example ... AzuManga Daioh ... i cried for almost every episode ... sure it was tears of laughter ... but they were still tears ... i came pretty close to passing out a few times too ...

:lol: ... gotta love those tears of joy. I almost passed out laughing too, and if i laugh to hard and start tearing up, the next step would be, me getting a headache and then passing out ... :lol:
