That's what Tsurumaki-san said, at least after they had a basic idea of what the character was going to be like. What was her name again? Oh yeah, Mayumi Shintani or somesuch... also played Tsubasa from Kare Kano.

Personally, I've always preferred the fansubbed version of that line:
"I don't care about furi or kuri or anything like that!"

I was asking basically why it IS that you like it. Is that simply to hard to list the reasons why you like something?

I think the general reasons include, but are not limited to:

1) Great humour.
2) Raft of culture references, injokes and innuendo.
3) High-quality animation, art, character design etc.
4) Good plot. It's there, just needs unearthing/interpretation.
5) Craziness.
6) This is unfortunately always a factor in things like this: Bandwagon.

What's there in the plot other than the vespa girl wanting pirate king powers and the lil kid not wanting to grow up?

Excel has all of those things and Excel > FLCL by a long shot.

Why is it I like it...well the whole sence that I don't know what the hell is going on until the 4th ep, which I like a lot, not because of the baseball/sex metaphors but for the fact that you finally see if Mamimi is wearing anything under that school sweater.

The soundtrack is good, not just the big parts played that the more tense moments, but a lot of the music used during the more subtle scenes like in ep 2 when Naota and Mamimi are walking across the bridge at night.

The fact that it's like a Tarantino movie really. It was completely indulgent by the director and some other folks who lended a word in. I mean..there was Kanti (the robot) which was thrown in randomly in the last moments of planning before the series was started. "Hey lets throw in a robot" *Why!?* "Why not?" *Good point...*, along with several smaller things thrown in that were favored by the cast and crew, a lot which you wouldn't realise unless you watched the commentary. Constant twists where occuring though they never really led anywhere until maybe an episode or 2 later O.o

In total:
1 boob tube robot
1 Giant hand
4 Bare asses
1 of them a guys
Countless deaths
1 Nazi Father Figure
2 Unusually bizarre eyebrows
4 Airsoft guns
1 Secret Alien Agency
1 All Powerful Alien
1 Living Human Turd
1 Giant Pair of Swinging Cat Testicles
22 Cigarettes
1 Dehydrated Corpse
1 Giant Steam Iron
3 Mention Cases of Arson
1 Almost Fully Exposed Boob
1 Robot Dad with a Plug Up His Ass
1 Blow to the head with a baseball
1 Brainless Cranium
1 Hungery Terminal Core
Shameless Noodle Promotion
Diarhea Robot Fu
Guitar Combat Fu
Giant Baseball Meteor Fu
Daicon V Bunny Girl Fu
South Park Fu
Vespa Hit and Run Fu
Rectal Nuggy Fu
Furi Kuri Masterbation Fu

Out of a respectable #of episodes I give this series a 4 out of 6 stars.

Well, Excel is 26 eps and FLCL is 6. They're not directly comparable in terms of plot development.

No I meant in general seeing as how Excel has something besides it's randomness. It has randomness AND something else going on. And it has Pedro.
