Discussion of a Character- Asuka

People that chase after these esoteric goals like "becoming an adult" usually have no idea what they really mean. So lets entertain the idea (however unlikely) that Kaji would get involved with her.... so the last step happens and she is finally a woman? So what... she is still her, there are no changes to what she is experiances.... I think it would be a let down for Asuka that would ring hollow with her..... It would accelerate her to face the things that she does not want to face. Things that the angel forced her to look at during the mind rape... In the end, the results would be the same...

Agreed. It would be just another issue to contend with during Complementation that results in the same thing, loneliness. I personally think Asuka would be even more troubled if that occurred. I won't even begin to wonder what Kaji's Complementation would be like.

I think they are talking about "instrumentality" and the Third Impact. Kaji was more messed up than all of the other characters on Evangelion. The Manga which delved deeper into many of the character's pasts showed that Kaji got his little brother and some other kids killed by trying to protect himself. His life was pretty much devestated by that event and shaped who he wanted to become. His obsession was to find out what was Second Impact.... what what NERV's real objectives.... Kaji worked for Seele, Gendo, and the Japanese government, but I would say that he was first and foremost loyal to the truth.

How can he be the most screwed up? He at least has a head on him, and knows a lot more things. Even though he's a bit shifty 'n at, he at least is dedicated to discovering the truth, even if it means serving ties from others.

Asuka has her head screwed on most of the anime as well. She only loses it when an angel mentally unscrews her head and puts her out of piloting for good. Asuka wanted to be respected by all and seen as the best pilot and knew it. Shinji, on the other hand, had no real goal.

Ah, stimmt. Even though, she would randomly get pissed at a lot of people. Kaji, on the other hand, smoothly kept them away or was involved with them to a point where he could move on without them.
