Manga and anime: the same but diffrent.

Yes, I know. And it's planned to floow the manga more closely. There was also mention of animating all the manga.

I agree that you can't really compare the manga and anime wholistically or directly, because of inherent differences between the two. Even so, I still like to compare them based on my own personal preferences.

Furthermore, I also generally prefer anime to manga. One major exception is Cowboy Bebop. I started watching the anime, then I read the manga, and I would have to say the manga was better (comparing the first few episodes). Now I don't care for the anime much, as it seems to be really slow-paced and dull by comparison. However, for most of the manga I have read, I have never seen the anime, and vice versa.

Finally, everyone here seems to like manga with plot differing greatly from the anime. I personally like it when the anime and manga are very similar (Cardcaptor Sakura, for instance) because it gives the same story, but with a slightly different take on it. As far as I'm concerned, if the manga is drastically different, than it might as well be a different series entirely. I guess what I'm trying to say is that rarely are the manga and anime completely identical, so the subtle differences offer a fresh perspective on a familiar story. Does this make sense to anyone else or am I just crazy?

Well, unlike you I'm more of an anime lover and only have a minor assortment of manga. If I do buy manga it will be to get the "inside scoop" on things and/or because the anime ended and the manga hasn't (this is the norm).
To me the manga and anime don't have to be married to each other but some resemblance is nice.
That is of course not counting the AU creations in both anime and manga.

This does make sense to me but that doesn’t mean you aren’t crazy.

you guys are very picky! you yell at people for "Necroposting" and for posting the same topic twce, how can you win? what if someone wants to voice their opinion on something just like all the rest of you? Posting on dead threads is a good thing, it brings old familier topics back into the spotlight, and if you don't like it, just see whatever was bumped down to the second page

I'm not picky; I'm part of the stupidity brigade.

Plus, don't quote me when doing such comments since my comment was directed at some newbie that was posting in all the threads that were beyond the three-pages down.
Like on the eight page; if that isn't "dead" then I don't know what is.
If it’s relevant and there isn't an existing thread about the same thing; then make one.
No one complains about anything unless:
The topic has been discussed to either death or flame-wars.
There's a thread with the same topic in the same goddamned page.
Off-topic/wrong forum.
Irrelevant.

It's an established pattern, and obviously since the board has been around for quite a while, and has a lot of posts, necroposting and a few other quirks have gotten REALLY established. And a good, particular set of formal and informal rules doesn't hurt, it makes things more organized...

Noone's gonna kill you for necroposting if you do it on occasion. It's just considered common courtesy around here, that's all. I didn't get it at first, myself, but I sort of came around eventually. It doesn't seem annoying to you when you do it, but from others' perspective it generally is:roll:
