Thanks for all the feedback on this one.

Every time I go to the bookstore, I see people with like 4-5 manga just reading through. Somehow, I never feel like sitting on the floor and doing the same thing, hence wondering if there were any good recomendations.

I'm not new to manga, but I've seen a pretty funky variety of stuff. For example Gunnm battle angel is great, nice clean lines, and you can almost see the action leap off the page in some of the scenes. Alien 9 is fun for entirely different reasons.
On the other hand, not knowing what's worth reading; my selection tends to be somewhat random. Brain Powerd was a big loss, oddly enough I liked Ai Yori Aoshi the anime better than the manga.
What would really be nice would be a manga recycling center, like a used book store sort of thing. At 15+ dollars each book, a 15 book series like say.. love hina adds up pretty quick.

Most of the reccomendations that I've seen from the inta-poll look like they are heavily centered around story and detailed plots (Akira, Kenshin, Gunnm for example). So, I'll take a look at them. Hopefully they won't be missing a bunch of volumes, as none of my book stored in the area seem to care much about restocking manga.
Build a man a fire, and he will be warm for a night. Set a man on fire, and he will be warm for the rest of his life.

1) when i buy manga, i usually already have an idea of what manga i want to buy, so i don't do a lot of reading
usually, the only reading i do is when there are two versions of a manga, so i have to decide which release to buy depending on size and cost and any translation differences there may be
for example, i just bought the first two bebop manga volumes, but i almost bought a bebop manga that was not in collaboration with the original creator, that other bebop manga looked weird, the regular manga (doesn't parallel show btw) looked a lot better imo, so reading is very helpful eitherway

2)i'd recommand Naruto, the manga has a lot of strong points to it, but this is one series that has advantages in both versions, so i can't decide which is better, watching both is kule, maybe at the same time, listening to anime while you read manga 8)

3)akira manga>anime, evangelion manga<anime, escaflowne manga<anime, naruto manga><anime, db/dbz manga>>>anime :D
If you're reading this, you've gone too far...PREPARE FOR RETRIBUTION!!
Don't judge an AMV by it's anime.. u nooB ;D
