Before you post something you might want to know exactly what it is.
The picture in question is from Mystique #4, published in August. The Sentinel itself is meant to be an obsolete Soviet model [hence the star and utter lack of resemblance to the US model] purchased on the black market by the Cuban government.
And as for the resemblance with the EVAs, it's pretty slight. And to pin it on Marvel is just stupid. I seriously doubt that Joe Quesada would tell anyone to rip off anime. In case you haven't noticed, Marvel actually hires real live manga artists to work for them. It has nothing to do with anyone other than the artist that drew it, in this case Jorge Lucas.

Yes it does look like an Eva, however Sentinels have been a design and character for what... 20+ years? Don't compare them to Evas.

That still doesn't convince me. It looks just too darn much like an Eva.
So, either it's a twisted coincidence or someone's copying someone off (don't know who). I would disregard a general resemblance, but there are just some very concrete details that are too alike...

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

I don't understand the last line of your comment.
Yes, the Sentinel has been around for a long time. However, just because they have doesn't change the fact that the drawing of THAT Sentinel in the Mystique comic book is a BLATANT rip off of the EVA unit. I certainly agree, however, that Marvel as a company probably was only ignorant of the design steal... but the artist, on the other hand, deserves a sound smackin'.
Thankfully, X-Men Evolution is staying somewhat loyal to the Kirby-esque design of the original Sentinel. I am very interested what the Sentinels in the Live X-Men movies will look like.

There are two kinds of people in this world:
Those who divide people into two kinds of groups
and those who don't.

Kirby-esque design of the original Sentinel? Do explain that part to me since I'm curious about what you said.
