technically excellent anime?

Well yeah you kind off do care what happens to the characters. However in most anime the main character or characters almost always live. So people dont really think or worry to much about them. The people want the main character to live and to die. But when the main characters die like in Mobile Suit Gundam: Chars CounterAttack people feel sad but want to watch it again and again. So yeah some character should die but not all of them. People for some reason like the sad ending thats what draws them in.

I live on sad endings. Perhaps because if they're done right, they usually provide good food for thought and generally are more challenging to grasp. Happy endings are very satisfying, but much more easily forgettable.
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

ill agree that millenium actress was a spectacular piece of animated work, the story was told so damn well............oh, brings back memories that does.........all the way from september............the cramped theatre, the great anime, no one talking throught it..........glorious......12 hours of anime goodness .........
