Can something answer this?
In the Japanese language, alot of people refer to other people with titles like Chan, San, and Kun. What exactly does each one mean?
Unless I say otherwise, the chars I talk about are from Cardcaptor Sakura.
I think
Chan is like Miss or Mr., or it just means friend. Both Sakura and Tomoyo always call Kero, Kero-Chan. Kero just says Sakura and Tomoyo. Tomoyo always says Sakura-Chan, but Sakura always says Tomoyo-Cho. I think Chan is very formal, which is why Kero wouldn't say it. He also has an Osaka accent, if that means anything.
I think
San is something you say to someone older than you.
I thought
Kun was added to a forigner's name. Li from is Chinese, and he is always called Li-Kun. Zack from Dead or Alive is American and he calls himself Zack-kun in Japanese. But then in Cardcaptor Sakura, Sakura's Father calls his son and his son's best friend Toya-kun and Yukito-kun. But Sakura calls Yukito, Yukito-san.
I've also heard
Cho as one of these. Sakura alwyas calls her best friend, Tomoyo-Cho. While Tomoyo always says Sakura-Chan. Tomoyo is very rich and is daughter to president of a very big company. So I'm thinking that Cho has something to with wealth.... but that doesn't seem right somehow....
How many of these titles do you know? Can you help me out with the ones that I've listed here?
Thanks!
