All right, new question (should be easier to at least guess):

The plot of the much-underrated Silent Service revolves around a hyper-advanced nuclear-powered attack submarine entering Japanese service. The vessel, which was built with assistance from the Americans, is given the code name "SeaBat" for its first operational exercises with the US Pacific Fleet. This naturally rankles its Japanese crew (bats don't have a real positive image), and, in a foretokening of things to come, the officers scratch its *real* name -- something much more Japanese -- into the hull before the ship sails.

The new name of the "SeaBat" is also the name of a famous warship from Japanese history, and of a famous warship (also revived with high technology) in the history of anime. What is the name that gets carved into the hull?

This should be at least guessable....people can't have forgotten Matsumoto's classics already...

I've never seen Silent Service, but all these clues are making me think Yamato of Uchuu Senkan Yamato fame.

You're exactly right. Post away.

For the record, the answer to the CMB question was Liao Mao Tseng (Mao), the main character of Cooking Master Boy, and the dish used was the Big Universe Pork Dumpling. (which defeated the Golden Ratio Pork Dumpling -- people ought to be watching this series for its "attack" names alone)

It was the Matsumoto clue that gave it away. ^_^

In Miyuki-chan in Wonderland, who is the first person to ask for Miyuki's name?

I'd like to take another "guessing stab" at this question as well:

Cheshire-neko?

It's been a while since I've seen Miyuki-chan in Wonderland, and I KNOW Miyuki meets several characters BEFORE Cheshire-neko. But Cheshire-neko's the only one I remember asking for Miyuki-chan's name.

ACK!! My bad, didn't know Ashyukun got it right, until AFTER I hit the "Post Message" button.

And as for the "unusual" knockers, . . . Time to watch Young Frankenstein again.

Those were magnificent knockers, if I recall correctly, Cliff. :P

Wow. Been a while since I've had to come up with a question.

OK, in Brigadoon Marin is pursued by a number of varied Monomakia bent on her demise. In the first volume, all of them save one are eliminated in fighting with the Monomakia protecting her, Melan Blue. What was that one that met a different demise, and what happened to it?

Dammit, I love Brigadoon, but it's been a while since I saw it and I just can't remember >_<
