Are you saying its psycho to dress up in normal land and its ok to be dressed up at a con or just psycho all together?
Cosplay is great, I do it every con, but it should stay at the con. There's always three or four otaku dressed in naruto gear at Barnes and Nobles reading manga and its so creepy, even im ashamed of them (and I'm a pretty die hard otaku)

In my mind, this is ok.Cornwiggle wrote:It's okay. Kazuma's jacket from S-CRY-ed is so awesome, how could I not wear it? As long as it's somewhat casual, and not like Piccolo's cape or something, I see no problem.
This is not.hypes wrote:There's always three or four otaku dressed in naruto gear at Barnes and Nobles reading manga and its so creepy, even im ashamed of them (and I'm a pretty die hard otaku)
If it can be done in a way that non-anime fans wouldn't know the difference, it's ok. If even non-anime fans can spot that something's amiss, that's drawing the line. And then if you start acting and talking completely like the character to go with it. Yeah. *cue Vonage music*

PhysCo(tm): For all your physics needs.
I'd say it's silly, but not psycho. Also, have you ever actually seen random cosplaying, or are you just pulling this out of your ass?
I have to say that I have actually seen random cosplaying. I saw some oh what the hell ever, Songstress Yuna or Gunner Rikku or one of those omg-look-at-me-I-need-validation FFX/X-2 costumes on some kid at the mall a while back. I rolled my eyes to myself, because silly otaku like that are embarrassing. Still, they're not hurting anyone, and if they want to look like dolts at the mall, they're free to do so.
At cons, wtf, what the hell else are cons for? Ogling cosplayers, being ogled if you're hot enough, and getting drunk (if over 21) or not sleeping and carrying on like you're drunk anyway (if under 21). Don't knock it till you've tried it.

i have seen cosplaying...your right. physco is too harsh a word. i agree that its silly. And your right again. they are free to look like that. But what im trying to say is that sometimes thats going too far....i never specifically said it was all bad. SarahtheBoring, i believe you misinterpritate the question. But you are right, physco is too harsh a word.

Is it too far? Really? I mean I think emogoth is too far, but people do it anyway. My mother thinks punks (especially of the straight edge variety) go to far in what they wear. And when I was in high school, my administrators thought even wearing shirts with anime characters on them was too far (something I later wrote an article on in the Dallas Observer which garnered an apology, I am happy to say). So, I ask you, where is the line?mj_fisher_15 wrote:i have seen cosplaying...your right. physco is too harsh a word. i agree that its silly. And your right again. they are free to look like that. I'd like to think at 15, I was more eloquent than this... however logs from the nineties suggest that while my online writing obeyed the rules of standard English, even I was not immune from overactive fanaticism, in my case, looks like I must have been a hardcore trekkie. Teen me failed hardcore.
