I would say, Now and Then, Here and There. It is just soo depressing, but hope prevails in the end. It has tons of violence though, but sexual references. Well there are a few, but you don't see anything.
I just have to say, that when I saw the last 2 episodes of NTHT, I really shared a tear, so touching it was. And that really means something!
Peace out,
Aetherfukz

If i could only keep one of my boxsets, it would be the Cowboy Bebop one. Great story and the box art is stylish and worth the extra $12 I had to pay after the fact. 2nd place would be Love Hina.
The Escaflowne boxset came with an action figure, but it's not one of my fave series (but my wife loves it).

Comedy:
Trigun (although it does get much more serious about halfway through. A personal favorite)
Slayers (A few sexual references, but you never see anything, and it's all in good fun. Overall a hilarious show all the way through.)
Drama/Serious:
Gasaraki (Haven't seen the whole thing yet, but it's a good show. It's a more realistic take on the mecha genre.)
Boogiepop Phantom (Excellent series. It has one of the most interesting storylines I've seen in awhile, and while it starts off a bit scattered, it comes together beautifully in the end. Highly Recommended)
Serial Experiments: Lain (Strange. Very, very strange. It's a good show, but don't watch it unless you're really in the mood to sit and ponder over the deeper meaning of things.)
That's about all I can think of at the moment.

Box Set
I recommend the Rose of Versailles Box set. But it's $250 for each so a total of $500 for the complete set. You also have to import it from Japan.
But they arn't likely to do so. I then would recommend Trigun.

Well, I can borrow Bebop, NGE, Lain, and Trigun, so I"m pretty good on everyone's favorites. I'm thinking about Love Hina. There are no big sexual references there, are there?
Also, is FLCL any good at all? I know I"m complimenting AD when I say that his Shameless Rock Video made me want to watch the series. It looks beautifully drawn. Is it as good as AD makes it look?
I'm trying to decide between FLCL and Love Hina, as those both seem to be pretty popular. Thanks a lot!

To the last of what I heard, FLCL doesn't have a box set yet. It's only 3 dvd's anyway, but I dont think they are all out yet. Kinda tough to get it for christmas if it's not released. I don't know about Love Hina, but I think there are 1 or 2 more volumes to be released as well.
What type of series are you looking for? Maybe then we'd be better help.
