Back on topic, though, I'm looking at the cast...

Ami Koshimizu as Kanoko (Claes in Gunslinger Girl)
Yuu Asakawa as Pop (Sakaki in Azumanga, Motoko in Love Hina)
Kaori Nazuka as Kate (Subaru in .hack//SIGN)
Mika Kanai as Pandabaa (Emi and Yumi in Irresponsible Captain Tylor)
Yuichi Nagashima as the Ear Hermit (Jaken in Inu-yasha)

I'm certainly intrigued by this group...

That's quite the cast o_O Though in looking on that character page...I want to know what the cellphone is...it looks...alive?

Puzzling through it with a kanji dictionary and my poor Japanese skills (with copious help from Babelfish), it looks like the cell phone (named "Monster") is an example of the MOTW (Monster of the Week) that our trio of heroines will be fighting.

It seems that the "Stress Group" (our evil aliens) will transform the people of the village into monstrous forms of varying themes, the example being of evil cell phones. This is starting to look like CLAMP's forray into the MOTW genre.

CLAMP seems to be exploring a lot of new niches in the past few years... Angelic Layer was their take on a tournament fighter, Chobits their first shonen series, and Tsubasa a world-hopping multi-crossover. It'll be interesting to see how their take on MOTWs pans out.
