because a lot of execs couldn't wrap their minds around the concept of an adult oriented animated show that wasn't a comedy.

And even then... they still treat adult specified shows like crap:

God, The Devil and Bob and more specifically CLERKS:The ANimated Series... probably one of the funniest cartoons in recent memory!

the american mentality is cartoons are for kids period. all adults i know automaticly dismiss cartoons as kids stuff. most dont take it seriously. they only ones that seem to take it seriously are the ones that in the first gundam generation, since they know cartoons can be grown up. the problem with this is when they see something adult oriented they think its being marketed toward kids and can get fired up about kids seeing it even thought they're not supposed to in the first place...another thing is american cartoons should definitely not try to look like anime. i think the biggest downside of anime is it's all drawn the same.

the only adult i know who ever liked cartoons as an adult is my dad. he loved ren and stimpy and the simpsons and older southpark.

im done rambling.

Yeah, right. I don't think they're growing up that fast! But your dad is getting us closer!

Just add shameless anime plugging...

Gee i think your right about that crap. Why else would I be hiding anime subs in the office desks? Because, to most people, anime = just another "speed racer / dbz" think like bugs and tweety, just the bad guys getting tripped up or something. Ugh.

Hell, Bebop could've been on Fox!
But dammit, it would be nice to see Cowboy Bebo on Fox. If you think thats too cartoon-adult-oriented, its much better than the total bullshit the american companies are putting out. Theres more explicit content involve in an episode of "Friends", "South Park / Futurama" etc than CB.

Americans think their own TV is too damn good. Then they only realize how many times Kenny cusses in South Park when they add the curse-o-meter or something. Can anybody say "lawsuit" ? Theres a lower cW/h (cursewords per hour) in most anime than in south park!
Remember dragonball on YTV/CN? Theres the Bulma Bath Scene, CN got a lot of cals over that one!

Done ranting for now.

the problem with this country is all we seem to look at is boobies and naughty words. crazy ass violence is ok, but we cant have the kids hearing damn. or hell for that matter.

Well if thats bad, check out the total amCRAPPY AMERICAN BULLSHIT they are putting out. In fact here's the basic plot for an episode of Fox's Just Shoot Me

Somebody's birthday at the office, character number one sends character number two a video game station. The evil receptionist tampers with the birthday cards and swaps it with a box of stuff from a porn store.

The character # 1, who sent it, invites character # 2 over "Lets play some games" "im gonna whoop you" etc. Remember, character # 1 doesnt know about the evil receptionist and thinks he has a video game.

Im not going to spoil it for now... Its funny but Fox almost got sued over this! So, why not add CB or some other anime, it much less threatening than Friends, etc.
Even the simpsons has dealt with death, explicit content, and lots of political incorrectnedd i can say that!

If american TV is that shitty...

Why did they edit out the word "kill" from anime?!?!?!
If thats bad for your kids dont get cable!
They'll just turn on HBo and where is that? Yes it sex in the city!
Then, turn on Discovery Channel stuff too!!!

Anime is not gruesome. Im not like that affected by blood and gore. After all, why censor up anime when your kids are flipping through TLC on the way up? Thats right, theres Code Blue Life in the ER operating scenes, and if you think that kenshin ovas are too brutal, theres a clip of a guy getting impaled through a tree. And of course, theres Cops and FBI files. Where you see graphic reenactments of murders and watch the bandits wipe up the floor on the way out.

Well, I can't convince a friend of mine that there IS a difference between Cartoons and Anime. Stuff like Pokemon, Galaxy Express 999, and Digimon don't help me out any.
