Both dwchang and I have heard from reliable sources that the opposite is true. Would you care to elaborate?dokool wrote:I'd copy a conversation I had with Vic here, but the basic point he made was that ADV is never gonna release Renewal here.dwchang wrote: My advice?
Wait for the Renewal. This is just another ploy to make (even more) money. They're gonna screw you again when they release the renewal. I hear the only problem right now is that ADV owns the rights to the show and Manga owns the rights to the Movies and thus it's hard to consolidate it into one Renewal boxset like Japan.
As a fan of the series, I've long accepted that the Evangelion franchise will have taken at least $1,000 of mine by the time they're through. But, since I love it so much, it's my cross to bear.

If I'm going to elaborate (since they're Vic's words and not mine), lemme just pull up the AIM log.Savia wrote: Both dwchang and I have heard from reliable sources that the opposite is true. Would you care to elaborate?
Again, as a fan of Eva, I would have no complaints about having to pay more for Renewal, but if what Vic's saying is true (and I'd think it is), then it offers some interesting questions...

DOKool: anyway, i have time, so if you want to gush over the virtues of editing w/ progressive scan...
VicBond007: I can't go back to fields
VicBond007: Or macroblocks
DOKool: but...
DOKool: you can just de-interlace and get rid of fields, no?
VicBond007: that causes blur whenever something moves
VicBond007: R2 DVDs are made from the cells. Not captured.
DOKool: which i suppose is why Renewal will never hit R1?
VicBond007: So there's no ghosting at all. Just crystal clear anime without the fields.
VicBond007: Renewal will never hit R1 because there's no market for it
DOKool: you think?
DOKool: i bet if they ever make the movie, they'll release Renewal
VicBond007: nope
VicBond007: The American audience is ignorant. We've been fed divx anime for so long we've become desensitized as far as visual quality.
VicBond007: Remember, we're the country that compressed Bebop to 4.5Mbits/sec
DOKool: but we've learned since then, no?
VicBond007: nope ^_^()
VicBond007: We're still mastering off captures of SVHS source.

I see the point you're making in Vic's stead, but seeing as I have heard from someone inside ADV that they have the intention of releasing it (even in England :O), I'm confused.dokool wrote:If I'm going to elaborate (since they're Vic's words and not mine), lemme just pull up the AIM log.Savia wrote: Both dwchang and I have heard from reliable sources that the opposite is true. When ADV tells the rest of us, you can put me in the choir of believers =)Savia wrote: I see the point you're making in Vic's stead, but seeing as I have heard from someone inside ADV that they have the intention of releasing it (even in England :O), I'm confused.
I'm actually hopeful that I'll hear the announcement in person: considering the number of just kickass announcements they made at Anime Boston 2003 (including Eva DirCut, AzuDaioh, Abenobashi, FF:U, and a couple others), I can only hope that Renewal will be announced at their AB2004 panel.

Have any concrete proof for that argument?DJ_Izumi wrote:Vic is wrong. ADV is the greediest anime production company in existance. And there are thousands of Eva fanboys that masturbate thinking of Kaoru every night. These mastubatory fanboys will happily pay for the new episodes. Why? Because ADV will do anything for money.

Case One: (I have stated this WAY to many times)
ADV DVD's Samurai X: Trust and Samurai X: Betrayal.
This Kenshin OVA totaled 4 episodes with a length of 30mins each. (Not 25mins like other animes) Total running time 2hrs.
ADV felt it was necessary to place this OVA on two DVDs. A single DVD9 disk could have held the entire OVA, and all the extras.
Speaking of extras... The extras were nothing but the comercials for the OVA itself, and text screens containing production information. Yummy, nothing like reading on a television.
Trailers for OTHER ADV anime? Oh, well, those were played BEFORE the disk menu, EVERY fucking time you booted the disk.
At least Microsoft puts Windows on a single disk. :\

i first heard about this a few months ago (about april-may) and to be frank, i blew my motherfucking head off. why ? , because i bought every single eva dvd seperatly, it cost me $310 , which is alot of money when your 15 years old , and then fucking gainax decide to rerelease it with all the deleted schenes. i dont get why they fucking had to cut it in the first place. ah they we're allmost bankrupt, then they made eva, got rich as hell, and then decided to piss of the people that took them out of bankrupsy by rereleasing it with the cut scenes back in it. barstards
