E-Mail me at unclemilo@yahoo.com and I will do my best to answer EVA questions.
I'm fairly well versed in EVA, I have a friend who knows the Khabalah better than anyone I've ever met... and he can get into the metaphysical stuff like you wouldn't believe...
and I have had a lot of discussions about EVA with quite a few people.
Drop me a line... but I do urge you watch it from beginning to end...

Re: Saw a bunch of anime's this last week. Some Questions.
I understand Eva in all the extremeality(i believe this is the correct term, it was used in short stories that focused on the concept of everyone being put in the story, or on earth, to solve their own problems). Im not sure what u ment by that comment, but i was simply trying to answer his questionsJim Hawkings21122 wrote:Shun wrote:Hmm i guess i can try and help on some of the eva questions.Anlushac11 wrote:8)
OK I saw a bunch of anime in the last week and now I have some questions.
Neon Genesis Evangelion - Saw one episode on CN and didnt like it. Friend had it on VHS. I watched it all except tapes 7,8, 10, and 13. Misato and Rei are anime hotties. Asuka would be if she would loose the attitude. I dont think Shinji was whining that much, hes 14 years old and shoved into a live or die situation he didnt want. What is next in lineup after the 26 episode series?
1) Is Rei a clone? after seeing the dummy plug setup episode It seems maybe Rei has died several times and they just bring out another body from storage and implant memories and such. It also seems Rei has been surgically and maybe genetically altered to make her more compatibile with the EVA.
2) Keep in mind I havent seen a couple of episodes. Do you ever find out where the Angels are coming from and why they are coming to earth?
Escaflowne - Loved it. The mechs kinda reminded me of Aura Battler Dunbine but the Mecha was much better and the characters were much better. Loved Merle the catgirl. Loved the line where Merle insulted her school uniform and Hitomi's reply: swing and a miss "Bad Kitty".
1)Are the Escaflowne movies continuing the story or are they a recap and condensation of the series?
Rahxephon - Loved it. Lots of anime hotties, especially Quon. I can see why lots of people compare it to Evangelion, lots of story parallels.
Voices Of A Distant Star - Thought it was excellent. Would love to see a series based on this. Reminds me alot of Gunbuster, another of my favorites. Almost had me in tears.
Happy World - Loved it. Reminds me of Oh My Goddess. Main female character has that same innocent charm like Belldandy. And like OMG there arent enough episodes *sigh*
Episodes 1-26 IS what the director wanted you to see, it is the ending in his mind from what ive gathered. How ever, the end of eva, if you reallly want, will give you the ending to the story as far as the "giant mech" thing goes.
Also from what i gathered. Rei is more a "replica" of his wife then she is a clone. Adleast i think thats what the general idea is. And yes it seems their are tons of them which act as the "dummy system".
The angels come from "space". However with their religous background and the whole beams that are crosses, aswell as the fact in an eva trailer it said "how can you stop what comes from god", im guess its something to do with a planned destruction of earth, and yet the eva is mans way of dealing with it.
Erm, hope that made sense.
You need to relly ask yourself " how much of eva really makes any sense"
Though to me it makes almost perfect sense, since i understand some of the religous undertones and vocab, and have watched the whole series through lik some odd 5-6 times, and some eps up to 10-12 individually.

Re: Saw a bunch of anime's this last week. Some Questions.
I understand that part where Shinji's listening to the walkman. Wait, no I don't. Why wouldn't NERV invest the $20 and get him a little boom box. I mean, we all know it's likely that if End of Eva didn't happen the way it did, he would have accidentally choked himself on the headphones chord eventually.Jim Hawkings21122 wrote:

And who listens to tapes anymore, anyway? Wait, I do. Scratch that.

Incorrect.madmag9999 wrote:yea the esca movie is totaly separet but it is awsome and thats becouse there were 2 diff directors that wanted to do esca so one got the show the other the movie well thats what iv heard anyway but the movie is still awsome
The director for both the Vision of Escaflowne and Escaflowne Movie was Kazuki Akane. The creator for both was also Shoji Kawamori. In fact both had almost identical staffs in both Character Design, Mechanical Design, Voice-actors, Animation Director, etc.
Since any good rebuttal requires works cited:
Vision of Escaflowne TV
Escaflowne Movie
As others have stated, the movie is an entirely new story and the only thing that's the same are the characters. They are under different circumstances and since it's only 2 hours, they can't do *that* much. Don't get me wrong though, the art is amazing as is the music. The story is alright too.
As for the Evangelion questions, everyone has answered them, but at the same time, I second that you should watch the entire show before even asking anything. Just looking at what you missed, you missed the last two episodes which debateably are the most important.
Come back after you've seen the whole show and we'll be glad to answer your questions.

Well to be honest, I think Milo knows more than I since he has knowledge on the Khablah. I only know *of it* and what's in it, not anything further than that.Propyro wrote:opps ... i got it backwards ... should have been "second only to" ... rather then inventing a new word ... meh .. looket mee ... i'm guud at engrish ...dwchang wrote:Seconded? At the same time, with respect to Eva, I dont' think you need to know all that to "get it" and so on. I mean, I know this'll sound arrogant, but I think I "get it" and I didn't need any external tools other than well..watching the show and my brain.

(ie, numerous, lengthy well worded posts.[UM has his fair share of those as well, but you have more that i know of]) But still ... meh i need to watch it again ... i still haven't finished rewatching it a first time ... and can't remember what happened in ep's 25 & 26dwchang wrote:

Yeah Milo is guilty of them as well, but so long as it has substance, I don't care. Hopefully mind do as well. I've been better lately, but that's mainly indifference kicking in.

indefference has been a tool thats served me well in recent years ... my mother however mistakes it for lazyness. It's not lazyness if you don't give a fuck ... i wish she would relise that.dwchang wrote: I've been better lately, but that's mainly indifference kicking in.
but yea ... there i go again ... long winded ... lengthy would have been a better choice of words ... but it's been said ... er ... typed ... but i belive you understand what i'm getting at.
