Looks like these guys are going for the giant robots route again! Say hello to Maiking Break-Through Gurren-Lagann, a rather long title for an anime series.

Hmmm, trippy mecha, stylistic FLCL-esque character designs, attempt to make another cash-cow, and a busty girl! This series looks like it'll be fun.

Dear Lord, just what anime needs, another mecha anime... The only one that I could really watch was NGE, just because they were bio-engineered. I liked Gundum ok, it just seems silly to make another mecha Anime. Can we please get some originality somewhere! I'm open minded, so I will probably gander at it, but I'm not setting myself up for a grand anime of majestic proportions.

Seriously, you can apply that phrase to every genre. They've all been done many times, so get over it. It's not the genre that makes something good, it's the actual content.

That shot makes it look like they tried and failed to get rights to produce another Gaiking TV series. Change the first letter of Gaiking, snaz-up the mecha a bit, add freaky character designs, profit!
I hope that the torso-face of the robot didn't come from a giant robot dragon. As if I wasn't insulted enough by the episode of the new Gaiking TV series and the young characters.
