I finally watched it all this year after seeing a few episodes at Fanime in 2004. While it was a very humorous series, the ending greatly disappointed me. :-\
As for similar series. . . I know it reminded me of something, but I can't remember what right now. Actually, the thing I mentioned in the spoiler block does remind me a little bit of some of the events in Death Note, except that it actually worked in Death Note. And Death Note is most definitely not a comedy.Spoiler wrote:It was lame. She wakes up, and doesn't even remember being his hand and all the experiences/bonding/etc. I'm sorry, but those kinds of endings disappoint me. They seem to negate any personal development that happened between the characters during that time. Instead, we get Midori going back to her old dove-eyed self.

but I don’t think it ruins the series. The dialog still cracks me up and even tho it pulls on you hart strings in the most obvious way its still quite sweet.Spoiler wrote:I totally agree she shod have retained her memory’s. The ending was the worst bit about it,

That's true, the ending at least is happy. I just think that it could have been better. Overall, though, I still really liked the show. I'd been waiting a year to see it again (my bf finally bought the DVDs at that time, giving me a chance to see the whole thing), and it was worth it.
As for Death Note- I don't think there are any plans to animate it, and I don't think anything would be gained by animation, actually. A lot of it is them sitting around playing psychological head games. Read the manga- it's wonderful.
