Gunslinger Girl?
I saw this at suncoast yesterday, and it looked pretty interesting. So I was curious, is it any good? And how are the action scenes?

Ah, Gunslinger Girl!
It's about these 5 girls that have cybernetic implants which allows them to be hardcore assassins; they basically work for the Italian government doing their dirty work. The reason these girls have these implants is because before they each faced a near-death experience; the government basically "revived" and brainwashed them. The action scenes are really nice and quite bloody (can't expect anything less from Madhouse
). But of course the whole series is not really focus on action; it basically shows how each of the Italian girls try to live out their lives as normal children.
I defientely recommend it just for the gorgeous settings that's been used, the amount of character input that's been shown in each girls and their fratello, and the awesome OP and ED songs.

The intro to this show is masterful.
I found it interesting and engaging, and worthy of attention; the ridiculous premise is excused for a good depth of character study and interaction, and the various ways in which the 'keepers' of these blank slate children treat their charges makes for charged viewing.

As a further word about the OP song... it's The Light Before We Land by The Delgados off of their 4th album, entitled Hate. It's a damn great song, just like everything else they have ever put out. They rule.
The show itself is also worth getting. It won't be making my top ten list anytime soon but it was enjoyable enough.
