Yes, cause before they used a video master, and not the remastered film one that is renewal.

Last summer, my Arjuna DVD 1 had a large and noticable video glitch during the first episode. I exchanged it at the place I got it, only for it to have the same glitch and a few more similiar ones. So I emailed Bandai directly with screen shots and they gave me an RMA to exchange it from them. Good times. :?

Only other is my Escaflowne DVD 1, again with a similiar glitch at one spot duting the very beginning of episode 1 (this happened many years ago). But it wasn't always bad... I swear it got scratched when I lent it to my friend. But she bought the full on box set, so I'm tempted to bait and switch the next chance I visit her. I wish I were that evil. :x

Hmm... my only faulty DVD would be FLCL volume 1 - the volume goes up and down when I play it on the computer.

the only bad anime dvds i got was bootlegged slayers series. i was so mad, never order anything from ebay again! a few of the episods would skip and their were extras but when u click on extras it just starts up the first epeisod. there is no previews of other anime cept for one and it plays automaticaly. their is no fbi warning about copyright. it just goes rigght to the main screen and shows the anime and credits, nothing about who made it. SO NOW IM GONNA HUNT THESE PEOPLE DOWN AND TEACH THEM ITS NOT NICE TO MESS WITH ANIME!!!
If the army or navy ever looks upon heavens scenes, they would see that the streets are guarded by the United States Marines.

From the Lodoss TV boxset, the 18th episode won't play on a computer (tried two programs). Nor can I rip it. Which sucks, because otherwise I was going to use scenes from it in an AMV.

It works fine on a DVD player, though. Haven't tried it on my PS2 yet.

My Castle of Cagliostro DVD has a large black splotch which appears several times, but since I've seen that sort of thing on some other movies as well, I assumed that was from the master, not unique to my copy or to a certain run of DVDs.

I've never had a glitch on any official DVD that I've bought (with the exception of Smokey and the Bandit, and it had a lengthwise scratch that made the end of the 2nd movie and the beginning of the second movie unplayable)

As for bootlegs, I bought the entire Fushigi Yuugi TV and OVA series on eBay, done by the person/company Fx (which they use Geneon's video, audio and sub source), there is an occasional slight delay between episodes, and a glitch that was also on the official DVD's that shows up on this one as well where the video freezes and to get past it, you have to skip to the next chapter and the back up to just after the point the glitch occurs (somwhere near eps 20-24, this is on DVD 3 on what I bought, on the official DVD's it would be near the end of DVD 3 or start of DVD 4)

I didn't know that I was buying a bootleg when I bought that Fushigi Yuugi set.

For some reason, I couldn't get disc 2 of Saber Marionette J vol. 3 to play at all. Shame that I waited so long after buying it to actually watch it; by then I'd long since lost the receipt.

I have two ADV DVD catalogues (different years) - in each of them there are some trailers that just will not play - like The Devil Lady and Miyuki-chan in Wonderland trailers.

I also have Geneon and Bandai DVD catalogues. No problems there. They even put in sample episodes just for fun.
