Samurai Champloo, anyone?

Post by BalineseKittyn » Mon Sep 20, 2004 8:59 pm

we just started watching this in the anime club here at my university, and i LOVE it. the storyline, while a little disjointed, is definitely cool. the characters are just awesome (the vagrant Mugen, who looks a little like Spike Spiegel; the rogue samurai Jin, cool and ascetic; and the little teahouse girl Fuu, who searches for the samurai who smells like sunflowers). the opening theme rocks ("the elements composin' magnum opus/my modus operandi is amalgam"). and to top it all off, it's directed by Shinichiro Watanabe (think Cowboy Bebop).

anyone else see this? what do you think of it?
Kudou Yohji is sinfully delicious.

Alas, I have not. They showed it at an anime con I went to in August, but since the schedule was off kilter (by a few hours, as a matter of fact :? ) I wound up walking into the middle of an episode...::grumble:: I want to see it, though. Does anyone have any idea when it'll be released here? I think it's been licensed.

I've followed the fansubs (but I'm a bit behind).

Also, at Mandarake Shibuya I picked up a giant sheaf of photocopied genga/layouts/etc from the show. Very cool stuff. The first DVD went on sale here, retail price about $60 for ep 1-2...
