Noir episode openers
I just thought of this while I was at JACON, but forgot to ask anyone. Y'know how at the beginning of each episode of Noir, they have one of the characters read the thing in the beginning, about the dark madiens and all that. Is there a significance as to which character speaks during the intro that pertains to the episode? I don't have my DVDs with me, so I can't go through and watch them and see. Has anyone else thought about this?

My opinion on the start sequence is that it's just a neat way to set the tone for the show and draw people in before each episode, so it has no deep, symbolic, or thematic meaning as far as I know.
But it does have relevance and it is significant.
The majority of the episodes are read by Kirika and have the typical lyrics about the peace of the newly born and the black hands that protect it. Kirika is the main character, the majority of episodes focus on her. The episodes that are seriously different, ones that focus completely on someone other than Kirika, change the start sequence. For that one episode where Chloe is the only main character, they have her read the words and the lyrics are different - reflecting Chloe's less caring, more tragic nature. (Thinking about it it's actually kinda beautiful...) Also the episodes the episodes that revolve only around Mireiyu/Mireille have her read the words, and the lyrics are changed, involving a black robe shielding nursing babies. This reflect's her position. Also, in the last episode both Kirika & Mireiyu read the words, I'm not sure if the lyrics are changed or not though.
The more I'm thinking about it now, maybe there is more importance to it than I give credit. There's definetly no plot-significance, and I stand by my assesment of it as a nice opening draw, but it definetly has character significance and symbolism & foreshadowing.
