My friend showed my some clips from evangelion and I wasn't to trilled about watching it. It took me some time to make my self to watch the show.
And It was awesome.

Well I love LOVE HINA even better and not to mention Robotech my favorite.
That's like blaming Jimmy Page for Robin Trower's lack of popularity. I still say it's a whack point of view. Just because a series was released in the same period another was doesn't mean that it is magically obscured from everybody's eyes. People find the good series regardless of what other shows came out back then. Plus, only some people saw Evangelion as their first anime. More people say that their first anime love was Pokemon, Dragonball Z, Digimon, Speed Racer, or Sailor Moon. I still ask, what grievence do you have? What's the problem? Some people saw Evangelion first, therefore some series have been obscured? Therefore people won't be able to see other series? That is not true. I mean, you saw Lain, so did many many people, I don't see any problem.bum wrote:im not directly blaming evangelion, its moer that im blaming the whole phenomena that followed behind it. and lets face it, if you asked someone "what was your first anime" or "what got you into anime" chances are that they will say evangelion, considering the evergrowing rate of dvd's being released due to an evergrowing number of anime fans, this is definetly a very good thing. its just that it overshadow's alot of other anime erleased at the time, i mean, when i first got evangelion it was because i had seen it on tv and loved the series. i didnt even know it was anime back then. when buying eva, i didnt know what an amv or an anime convention was. and i only bought lain (for $140) after reading some rave (yet brief) reviews in a pc mag. thier we're probaly alot of greate anime released back then, and nge would have overshadow's alot of them for theys new anime fans.
Well if that's the case, just start discussions yourself! You don't have to be angry at people for discussing what they want to discuss. You *can* find other people that are dedicated to what you want to talk about. We could take EVA away from people so that they'd be infatuated with one of their other favorites, but that would be depriving them of Evangelion, which would be like a sin. Maybe it takes a slight amount of work to find the kind of non-Evangelion discussion you're looking for, but it can be found and/or coaxed.bum wrote:hmmm, nice new sig pen2k2 . anyway, its just that everyone allways talks about eva too much and too little about anything els. as in, eva is the only anime ive seen with a large number of "serios" discusions, i just think that it had too much of an impact on people, while it left them simply watching other anime, and not realy geting intoit like they did with eva
