12 episodes IIRC, and who said it was mecha? Unless you count the flying fortresses.

IMHO, NTHT has the better plot and characters, but Hellsing's got more action and isn't depressing. So it's your call really.

I would say NTHT by a hair. It's not mecha or gun/sword fighting really. It's more sociological and psychological in nature it doesn't fit well into any major category of animes due to it's uniqueness. It's set in this devastated war-ridden future world but within that framework it's more realistic than most anime (except for the pendant I guess.) Also if you are planning to use what you get for a AMV I would definitely recommend NTHT as there are a ton of Hellsing videos out there. In the end it's up to you it really depends if you like depressing anime.
