Bad anime?
Dragonball (et al) REASON: Far too long winded, poor attempts at humour. It does have plot and characterisation, i will admit, but it takes them about a 100 episodes to get it across. Also at points it's not so much 'fight a week' as 'punch a week'.
Zone of the Enders REASON: Crap plot, shoddy animation, bad voice acting, 'nuff said. A pitiful waste of £20 I still curse myself for (I could have brought more EVA!)
Sword for Truth REASON: Sorry, too busy puking.
Yu-Gi-Oh REASON: I could never be arsed to begin to understand the rules of that crazy card game, and I think the series is kinda lost without that...I did think that villain (Maximillian Pegasus?) looked cool, though this might just be becuase of my 'long white haired villain' fetish I picked up playing FF7 for far too long.
G Gundam REASON: Ah, I see, they thought crossing gundam with DBZ would be cool... WRONG! (The animation where that rubber suit thingy pulls across him is pretty class though)
I generally prefer short'ish' anime as well...I think 26 is about the right amount, though I loved Gundam Wing and that was about 50 (and you did need to watch them ALL...I skipped a few once and when I started watching again the government of the world had changed twice and everyone had swapped sides...) The really long ones like Inuyasha, Yu-Gi-Oh etc. also tend to be the most aimed for children, at least in the translation process. The main reason I don't like 'em though is it's pretty much impossible for me to watch them. (Do you know how many episodes there are to an Inuyasha DVD?) It takes me long enough to build up collections of DVD's for the shorters series and OVA....
Ceci n'est pas une sig.
