Plot Summary: Yoko Nakajima, an unhappy high school student, is one day suddenly faced with a strange man who swears allegiance to her. After a battle with demon-like beasts, he then takes her to another world along with two of her classmates. There, her appearance has changed and she can understand the language even though her classmates cannot. But their status as "Kaikyaku" (people who come from Earth) makes them hunted fugitives, so they wander the land of the 12 countries, simply trying to survive and to figure out the reason why they were brought to this world.

The Twelve Kingdoms
I've just finished the first 5 episodes on DVD, annd all I have to say is that it's pretty morbid. Though the overall plot may seem cliché, the characters seems refreshing in my opinion. Hopefully, this will be promising. Any thoughts about it? Oh yeah, here's the synopsis based from the Anime News Network:

40fps? I don' know bout' that, but it is pretty good.
I have to say, a lot of anime boasts it's tilted toward girls, but the show still turnes up more male fans then girls. 12 kingdoms however is really a show I could see a girl liking, and any guy (Who can put things like fan service aside). Personaly, I am getting so sick of fan service that I pretty much wont watch a new anime if it has it. I have only seen the first five epp's, and while I haven't jumped to get the rest of the series, it still deserves a lot of respect (When I get a DVD player in my room, then I will get the rest, my parents would not aprove of the show).
The animation and music are great too, the only thing I didn't like was the quality of the DVD, it studered every once and a while (Like a lot of anime work shop DVDs do), but this is miniscule when compared to the plot and development of the charactors, even in the begining.
Does anyone know how long the series is?
