New Darkstalkers

Recently I was in the A/V section of my local department store and saw a Darkstalkers double DVD case. Looking at it and slowly turning it over, I thought...

"Hey, so they finally put it onto DVD..."

Then I got to the spine (I said slowly) then saw the ADV logo...

"ok, they haven't screwed much up in the past..."
then I saw the back with the screenshots.

"OH DEAR GOD!!! WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO THAT BEATIFUL ANIMATION STYLE FROM BEFORE!!!"

Has my memory finally gone and this really is the orinigal Darkstalkers from the VHS tapes or is this something else? Mainly I remember Morrigan being drawn very well (as most Anime girls are) but they had her picture on the back and it caused me to nearly drop the case.

Yeah, the Viz version of Darkstalkers was helped out by some of Capcoms animation artists I think.

The ADV release is like a poor attempt at something else...

Shame on you ADV...

Sadly, I've also noticed their quality of dubs starting to decline ever so slightly...

Yeah, I stumbled across this too. Apparently, there was an American cartoon series of Darkstalkers that aired a while back. I vaguely remember seeing a listing for it in a TV Guide a long time ago. Never actually saw it, but I've heard it's pretty awful. So this dvd is just the American series. I'd avoid it if I were you.

Yeah like Gaikotsu said, it's probably the american cartoon. The anime was named after the second game Night Warriors, which I thought was available on DVD but now looking at rightstuf.com I can't find it. Good thing I have the VHSs I guess.

The anime is available on dvd. Or at least it was, because I own it. (No, it's not a bootleg) The crappy part is that it's 2 episodes per dvd, when they could've easily put it all on one.
