Despite everyone and their mother more or less realizing that the announcement is coming, ADV has yet to announce its licencing of Renewal.

It has, however, announced licencing of the Director's Cut Episodes (21-26), which have scenes that we didn't get and all that good stuff. I'm not sure what their source would be, but I can imagine that they would be of Renewal quality. Time will tell.

I bet they have the licnece for renewal purchased, but will release the dirrectors cut of the last two episodes, then wait a year to release the renewal box set ... buy all of them ... danm it ... and knowing me i'm going to buy all of them ... fuck this sucks ...

And what do YOU think of the ending?

I thought it was pretty good, but I wished Anno had split the last two episodes into four, so as to show what was going on (the End of Eva style) up to the point Shinji is killed, and turned to LCL. From there, he could have the Episdoe 25/26 self-realization crap, and then cut back in to the End of Eva style, portraying the real-world results of Third Impact.

The only thing that really annoyed me with Episode 25/26, is the fact Shinji is being bitched at and lectured by all the other nutjobs from NERV, who all have their own psychological issues to deal with. Touji, Kensuke, Hikari, and even Pen Pen doing the whole group therapy "Congratulations" bit at the end, I could understand (seeing as they weren't really messed up, just desensitized to the atrocities of post-Second Impact living). But, Asuka, Rei, Misato, and ESPECIALLY Gendo and Ritsuko giving him shit for dodging reality? What in God's name gives them the right to torture him for his relatively harmless coping technique?

I've always thought Shinji's change in Episodes 19-20 should've stuck, so he could eventually confront his father. Due to this belief of mine, as Jim already knows, Yuppa and I are undertaking an Eva fanfic based on the idea Shinji grows a pair. Yes, Jim, more shameless self-promotion. If I don't mention it here, who is ever going to know about it?

But it is almost definitely going to happen. I have heard this from an ADV insider. As he had no reason to want to lie to me (we were getting along pretty well), I believe him.

Actually, like Savia, I have heard from an insider that they DO have the licence. The main reason it's not out yet or any announcement is b/c of Manga Entertainment. If you remember, Manga has the rights to the movie and ADV the TV series. This obviously leads to some problems since the Renewal contains both and thus can't be distro'ed by just one of them.

i dunno i liked end of eva but the ending could have gone on a little longer. the firght that asuka had WAS awesome though.

I run from the thought that EVA will get an American licencing release. I have bought precious few American release anime and they all SUCK !! BADLY !!!
GOD I HOPE I AM WRONG about this.
I just spent $100 dollars for the American release of Yami no Matsuei renamed for american's as "Descendants of Darkness" box set.
Not to carry on or anything but the English voices are about the worst I have ever heard, and the subtitles are so bad (words just cannot describe).

If there really is a God out there he will keep EVA from being butchered in the process..........
