cowboy bebop, balled of the fallen angels. why? well becouse it kicks much ass
So true. That and episode 26 are two of my favorite episodes. Also episode 30 of Rurouni Kenshin. (Saitou rocks)

As for a funny episode I'd say Mushroom Samba from CB  . Jet talking to his trees was funny.

Well, my favorite "episodes" of anime's I have seen are

1.) Patlabor The TV Series, episode one, mainly because the Ingram is stolen and Noa keeps going on about "her" labor and trys everything to get it back, even though she isn't a member of SVD2 yet.

2.) Azumanga Daioh episode 5, my favorite because Chiyo-Chan is traumatized from riding in Yukari-sensei's car. lol

3.) Evangelion episode 8, Asuka Strikes, I love this because it is the first episode featuring my all time favorite anime character
"I've spent the last ten years of my life defending my country, I've sacrificed for it, fought for it, and bled for it, now it's time I got something back, so please just respect me and my fellow Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines as we continue to do this job."

Hmm, a lot to pick from for me.

Irresponsible Captain Tylor episode 7 - A Gentleman's Word is His Bond

I don't know why. I guess it's when he promises that he and the crew will act like a normal navy crew for a day and THEN ACTUALLY DO for a while. It's just the fact that he COULD be a good captain if he wasn't so lazy.

Cowboy Bebop Episode 11 - Toys In The Attic

Just a great Alien parody and you can't forget the last scene.

Full Metal Panic - episode 8. Just for the scene with the dating game. :D

My favorite episode is the cliffhanger of Episode 7 of Chobits leading to Episode 8, and Episode 20 (or is it Episode 21), the climax of the series (sorry if this spoiled you guys). That techno mix BGM is the COOLEST! 8)

My number one favorite is the episode of Fruits Basket where Tohru is sick and Kyou cooks leeks for her... He's just so adorable!

Close seconds are Cowboy Bebop's Mushroom Samba and Trigun's Quick Draw.

Mushroom Samba... Spike tripped out on mushrooms in hilarious. And I love how Wolfwood and Vash interact in Quick Draw. Interact in a non-yaoi kinda way.

dwchang wrote:1st place: Rurouni Kenshin Episode 55 - Soujirou's past revealed. Easily some of the best character development in any anime I've ever seen. I still get chills during the last scene where he charges Kenshin and sadly even know the Japanese he says. The music is perfectly chosen and synced excellently.
Good choices both. I also like:

Eva episode 24: Kaworu is such a wonderful character, who gets so much depth so quickly. By this time, you know the characters well enough that they can perform and entertain without need for motion, speech or anything else. Add also the shocking revelations about Kaworu, Rei, and their respective At-fields, and the fantastic recording of Beethoven that goes with it, and you have my favorite episode of the series.

KareKano, episode 5: the inevitable finally happens, and Yukino admits her feelings. Done in such a quiet, understated and beautiful way, it makes my heart ache. Excellent use of music also.

Fruits Basket, episodes 24-26: I was indifferent to this series until I hit the emotional tour-de-force that is this arc. I was alternately shocked, elated, depressed, saddened and warmed by the excellent all-round performance. Souma Akito remains the most chilling villain I've seen in any series.

The last ep of Slayers Try. The part where Lina cast the Giga Slave(?) and it all seems to go wrong, but then everything goes crazy and that Lord Hellsomething guy freaks out. (Trying not to spoil stuff)

The ep of Escaflowne where they use the Fate Altering machine. Im not normally one for romantic kissing scenes, but that scene was dramatic has hell, the way the music kicked in, it was just really bad ass.

Concurred. Best dramatic pause ever. To be honest, if the series were to end there, I'd be perfectly fine... not that I hated what followed.

As Gainax seems to be dominating my tastes lately, I guess I'd include the hilarious ep. 8 of Eva and ep. 5 of FLCL as well. Otherwise

Go figure. Too much stuff I like, too little I hate. Hard to pick.
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…
