Roger Smith is a BIG tomatO.

The second season of Big O has been going really good so far. Everything has been going along nicely plot wise. As I've watched the series though, I've been thinking, what if the series was never shown on Toonami to begin with? Would the American fans react to it as well as they have? Would a second series have been made if it didn't get so popular here in the states? My answer to these questions is short. No. As well as I've been loving the series, I don't think it would have continued if it wasn't for CN. The guys who created this over at Sunrise should consider themselves fortunate for having things end up this way. You guys have any opinions about this? Let me know.
Probably too busy to be here right now.

8)

Big-O wasnt a failure in Japan, it just wasnt a big hit. Alot of Japanese didnt get the American architecture and references in Paradigm City to a certain unnamed city on America's Atlantic coast.

When Americans, mainly Toonami viewers, saw it they instantly recognized stuff and jumped on it. Big-O was a huge success in North America. Once the Japanese got word and figured out about the settings and American references it became popular in Japan again.

Enter Cartoon Network a year or two later asking about a sequl to Big-O. Sunrise is interested but didnt have it budgeted. CN says we will co-produce it for North American rights to it. On top of the renewed interest in Japan for Big-O it was a matter of CN showing up at the right time with a checkbook. The series may have been done eventually anyways but CN bankrolling a portion of it was definately a kickstart.

As I understood it(And I could be wrong, its happened once before in my life :) ) CN didnt have very much at all to do with the story, they just financed part of it and asked for NA distribution rights.

BTW I am a major Big-O fan. I thought CN releasing the uncut version was a godsend. All of a sudden there are many Big-O posts saying "Oh..now I get it". You take away all the religious references and the Big-o start up screen reference things became vague.

Cant wait til tonight to see what becomes of Dorothy. Bastards left us in a hell of a cliffhanger.

Big O is great. I have loved it since I seen it at anime club in 2000. I liked the dubs and the subs and love how it makes you use your brain to figure out what might be going on next. I am not a big fan of mecha anime so this is something huge. I also hated that bs they pulled last week leaving us with a cliffhanger like that. I have been frustrated this whole week cause I want to know what will happen. Now I don't have to worry..provided that my cable doesn't get turned off by some freak accident. *knock on wood*

I've also heard that the manga helped the Big O popularity in Japan.

Tonights episode completely rocked. It's up there with the R-D episode which is saying a lot. We find out more about the characters and why certain things happen the way they do. The plot is getting thicker than gravy! Oh yeah!

I was rolling on the floor laughing when Big Faux flashed that message to its wannabe Dominus "Cast in the name of god, ye not". That was easily one of the best episodes.

I know. He was acting like a little two year old brat. I'm glad Big Fau put him in his place. It was saying "you are guilty loser so get a life!"

Liked the input you guys brought to the table. As far as last week's cliffhanger went, if it happens again, think about it this way. If we can wait two years for a new season, I think we can hold out for one week.

It's all coming together, lets see how it will wrap up.

"muster the goombas" you messing with my family?(gumba goomba) lol

i had a longer wait cause i first saw the show in 2000. so yeah i can wait a week. at the other forums i am at people have been going to extremes with plot theories but that is what i like about the show. the fact that people can come together and test out what they predict is awesome. this is truly an anime for the mind and i am enjoying every last bit of it.
