Firefly=Outlaw star ripoff

Think back, the year is 2001 the new fall lineup of fox shows is just starting then suppenly you spot the preview for a show called "firefly", a sci-fi western story about a bounty hunter name jack(Gene) who only carries a six shooter for a weapon(this reps the old spell gun that gene has), a toughguy whos nearly indestructable (aisha), a brilliant computer hacker/docter(jim), a beautiful seductress/assasin(suzuka), and a girl that they picked up along the way that has no memory and seems to somehow be the key to the whole story(melfina).
People i'm not just making this shit up this was the plot for a prime time show that aired on fox a few years back for a WHOLE SEASON.
Somebody please tell me that i'm not the only one who sees this as a blantant ripoff of Outlaw Star.

yup Outlaw Star rip off. cheap bastards stealing ideas. its probably cheesy. then again stealing ideas is what makes the world go round.

Yeah...it sucked and they took off Dark Angel w/ Jessica Alba b/c of it!

But ya, it was pretty much a rip off aside from the lack of awesomeness associated with Outlaw Star.
