Back when I was in college (92-96), I was in the Show-Me-Anime club at the University of Missouri-Rolla. Every week there would be a showing of several anime episodes and movies. I'm trying to track down information on one of them and haven't been able to catch a break on it.
This was a movie I believe. The plot was sci-fi based, a team of youths are sent on a mission to what is suppose to have been an abandoned ship. However, once on board, they discover that an extra man arrived with them. Of course, no one knows who is suppose to be on the team and who is the extra man. There is the generic sci-fi emergency which means they have to get off the ship through a series of traps and dangerous situations where they are whittled down, one by one. At the end, the survivors are informed that the whole situation was a test, the extra man sent to cause problems along the way.
I thought this anime was called something along the lines of "13th Man" or "11th Man". But I've struck out in finding any information on any permutation of this title that I can come up with.
Does anyone know ANYTHING about this title? Does it even sound familiar?
Help! Looking for the name of an old'ish anime title....

Shun, picked the right anime, you did indeed watch They Were Eleven. This is a pretty decent little picture, that I must admit to not having watched in several years. This was released domestically by U.S. Manga back in 1993, and I can actually remember buying this tape for 40 something dollars! (blegh!)
But it is a fun show.
Unfortunately, the VHS is currently out of print, and I have not heard plans for a DVD release. It might be possible the U.S. Manga's rights to this title have expired.
