Like the Azumanga Daioh fansub that Triad did. ADV has a lot to live up to if they wanna make a better version of that show in the fans' eyes.

Yep, and I seriously dont see how they can do it, unless they pack serious notes on the dvd. And am I the only one that thinks that show would be IMPOSSIBLE to dub??
Same case with Super GALS. I'm eagerly anticipating its release later this month, to see how ADV could handle such a show. If they somehow managed to get it right, my respect for them will increase 10-fold. From my past experience with ADV though, I'm not expecting much...

I'm still mad at ADV for sitting on their license to the Slayers Movies and OVAs. Come on it's been like 4 years since they got it and they've only released 1 of 4 movies. That's absurd! The Slayers is my favorite series and I'd like to be able to get my hands on the rest of the movies and OVAs while I'm still young... that of course is assuming they even EVER release the rest of them.

Unless you can actually understand the japanese being spoken, how can you know that subs are more acurate on the fansubs than the domestic translations? Just because the fansubbers directly write in the 'oro' or 'no da' (Instead of 'oopsie' or 'ya' know'...or whatever the heck they translated those into ^_^) doesn't mean they have a better understanding of the language or it's nuances. True that many of the translators for fansub groups speak the language but not all. So it's pretty unfair to gruop them together as a basis for reasoning like that. I am pretty sure that companies hire people who speak the language to translate...and in some cases even former subbers so I have heard.

People need to just come right out and say it that they believe the world owes them a living. If you (you being anyone..yes you if you think I am talking about you 8) ) believe you are just taking money away from a company and it's OK because they are a faceless fat cat corporate  keep in mind they still have people working for them...real life people....people that have bills and like to eat every now and then.

But who wants to support an economic system like capitolism anyway...it's sooo flawed. I am sure that someone on this planet has figured out a flawless system that allows everyone to live in harmony ince it's rules out all forms of greed. Then anime, music, movies...heck..cars and food would all be free just 'cause you are too poor to afford it at the time.

Apparently since anime is a veritable necessity of life, and not a commercial product, it's OWED to people to get it cheap or for free.

If people don't like paying full price for anime, buy it used or rent it. Sure the shrink wrap is pretty satisfying to remove...all that wonderful crinkly noise just reinforces how successful in life you must be to buy firsthand...be proud because apparently not everyone can enjoy such luxuries.

I do know how hard money is to come across, and even that younguns can't get jobs. But you can always earn money somehow. And go ahead and justify your actions anyway you want to...I can't (and won't) try to stop anyone from being hypocritical. Just pardon me for being too cold to understand the plight of the disadvantaged but instantly gratified masses.

*Claps*

Well said, I completely agree on just about everything you said. Hey I'm just a lousy grocery store cashier and I still buy all my anime. It really irritates me that a friend of mine downloads complete episodes off of file sharing programs... that's just so wrong.

I understand what's being said just fine ;)
And I make it my mission to point out to my non japanese speaking friends when something is incorrect...

Maybe spoilers ahead (?)

Well, except for the last episode of Fruits Basket. There was plenty of Mistranslation in the version I have, particularly in the final scene concerning Tohru, Kyo, and Yuki. :P

I just went ahead and let that mistranslation go since I'm a Kyo fan
