Megatokyo....how to classify

Ok, here is my quandrary. I know what megatokyo is, it is a webcommic in an anime style. But, Piro shows up at ANIME conventions and has pannels and whatnot. This kinda leads me to think that if he is associated in anime in the US that megatokyo is a US made manga. Would that mean that if someone did a video to it that it would be considered an AMV?I did a search and came up with some megatokyo videos ppl did that are cateloged on this site, thought they are categorized as non-anime. But isn't just anime animated manga, or a video adaptation of manga. What comes to mind is the manga scene in FLCL. It uses managa representation to tell a small snippet of the story. Would something that is considered a manga, if made in a way to simulate animation, would it then fall into the relm of anime? Would you think that these videos could be entered into AMV contests at cons? I'm interested in what ppl think. I'm looking for yes and no answers with explanations why or why not. Go nuts.

Manga are comic books. Anime are animation. Different formats. Anime is not an "animated manga"; the two are seperate mediums that share a similar fanbase. I imagine Fred (his real name is NOT Piro) appears at cons because of (1) the fact that some of them have web-comic panels, and (2) because of the heavy anime/manga influence in his work, and it's following among fans of such.

The question of using manga scans (with or without anime mixed in) for AMVs has been dijscussed before, as well as done (sort of) by people, e.g. EK/BBT. It would be no different from using manga, except that it is an american artist, an issue that shouldn't matter anyway.

Well....i see contests that say x% has to be animated in order to qualify. I can imagine this is to prevent non-anime live action sort of things, but i was wondering weather it also was the same for using manga, which is just an extension of anime or vise versa.
