Now by the same token, please don't take this as some "I win" stance or whatever.
this will probably be my last post to this thread, but I just wanted to let you know that this was never about winning or loosing as hard as that is to believe.
So in other words, one part of the community is waging war on another part of the community because they take their community seriously enough to want to do so. Then they tell the powerless side to get over the loss cause it's just an online community. I'm glad people make so much sense." -- Tab

The problem with rentals that I have is that all the rental places around me mostly have movies. Which are fine, I like anime movies, but I like series's/OVA's a lot better, and the Blockbuster's and Hollywood Videos around me don't have any of those.

And then there are others that you'll just never see with a domestic release. (like Azumanga Daioh, where fansubs are the only option if you cannot speak japanese.) this is what I was refering to when I say necesary evil. If it's rentable I think people would jump on it since it's only 5 bucks and the quality will be a helluva lot better.
Oh you were talking about digisubs?!? O_o I have absolutely NO problem with these. They are still "piracy" or at best "grey," but I think if it hasn't been licensed yet, there's no problem. Companies also agree to this is the fansubber stop distribution once it is licensed. If I had known you were talking about that we could've foregone the 1000+ characters we've each typed. Argh!!!
CaTaClYsM wrote:and in response to the first part, all of these things, AMV's and Fansubs fall under the general category of 'piracy' and while they are vasly different, for better or worse they are legaly the same but even you admit that there are different kinds of piracy and that there can be instances when the law fails to adress a certain situation. And Fansubs aren't all that bad, if it werent for fansubs I doubt that anime would be where it is today.
Yes I agree to that wholeheartedly. I guess what I was getting at is to the degree, but to the law (which I keep quoting haha), it's the same.

Excellent. Your recent posts have shown me the possible error of my assumptions from other people.

Yeah...you just brought it back up...if you'd have read you'd also see that Cataclysm and I have come to some sort of weird understanding (whatever it was :-P).

Also side note, but you bring up a discussion doesn't mean you dictate when it dies (i.e. your response being required). If something is interesting people will talk about it...
